My Sierra Designs tent bit the dust in the wind two nights ago. The "no see-um" netting started with a small tear. By day two it was torn all the way across top to bottom and side to side. The storm cover vestibule started similarly but, this morning was totally shredded.

Winds were 20~30MPH with gusts 40~45MPH.

Ideally, something that will vent in the summer so it isn't super hot but, it needs to be dry in the rain and warm in late Fall and Winter.

Yes, I will trade weight for durability. This also needs to be something I can setup by myself in the dark. ;)

TIA,
Sid

Yes, Hilleberg makes some really good tents but, boy are they expensive. I'm trying to keep enough money in my pocket to actually use the tent somewhere besides my yard though! ;)

In reality, these generally start in the ~$400 range with something like you find at REI. I am hoping to find someone that has actually used or been around some before dropping that much or more on a tent.

If your going with another full sized adult, I recommend sizing up 1 person & go with this

it always helps to have some extra room.
The wife & I use the Alps 4 Person Camp Creek, I'm 6' 5" & She has to have her fold up
Cot so the 4 person works for us.
The Alps build quality is Great , We've rode out a couple of Thunder Storms at 6,000 ft.
in Lassen Park with no Problems.

If wind is a concern, pack a set of these for the Rain Fly.
