Need a $50 max S30V folder :)

I will suggest the Buck Vantage Pro and the Spyderco Native since I'm too lazy to read the very first post of the thread.

Well, I feel that my life will be more complete and fulfilling if I buy just one more knife. I've bought so many more knives since I started posting here :D

Here are the requirements:

-No more than $50 street price (slightly negotiable . . . if none at that price point exist I can possibly go up to $70 if it is an absolutely amazing knife, $60 would be easier though)
-A locking folder
-Blade must be at least 3"
-Must be S30V steel
-Must NOT be Buck Vantage Pro (I already own) nor Spyderco Native (I am eyeballing it but I want to see other options)

I know there aren't too many S30V blades that are 3" or more for $50 max, but I'm cheap :) Or at least, the only way I can justify to myself adding another knife to my armory-like collection is if I don't break the bank. I already have the Vantage Pro, but the one I got had horrible blade play, so I need a S30V that locks up decently. And the Spyderco Chicago is just not a big enough blade for me.

Thanks for your help everyone!

I suggest a good set of torx screwdrivers. Every knife develops play eventually. If you want to keep the pivot set the way you like it there's really no other choice.
Pick up some blue loc-tite as well.

I second (or third or fourth) the Kershaw Avalanche!

You'd have been better off not even posting.

Guys I apologize for forgetting to put this in the original thread (I just edited it in), but I am a lefty, so I need a clip that is reversible :o I had been looking at benchmade's site the past few days and almost all their knives have reversible clips so I forgot that quite a few of them don't.

If I wasn't a lefty I would have been all over those kershaw blurs or avalanches.

With this important limitation now stated . . . any other suggestions? :o

It was sarcasm. Guess you missed it. Tons of people suggested that knife when he said in his post he did not want the knife. Mongo made a tongue in cheek post. Get it?

Well, they were $70... now $80 + s/h. Cabela's still has an Alaskan Guide version of the infamous Buck 110 Folding Hunter. Inherently ambidextrous, you can use both hands to open/close it with either hand dominant! It's S30V blade is Al-Ti-N coated - sort of black. Comes hair-popping sharp - 3.75" lockback blade - a classic - with a decent sheath. Of course, ~$27, inc s/t, will get you the same knife - with a 420HC blade - at WallyWorld.

Now, for a real treat - go to Buck's site and 'build your own' - a custom Buck 110! With S30V blade, nickel bolsters, pretty walnut scales, no rivets - $86 - and it's custom made for you. If you have a desire for waterbuffalo or stag scales, they can do them, as well... a bit higher, of course! I have several from the custom shop at Buck - super knives - keepers!!

Probably the best buy in a folder is your Vantage Pro, with the fb best deal now being canned - the 151 Mayo Kaala neck knife - ~$65 mail order - still around, too, if you search. It begs to be made into a neat fb - fit some nice scales. I had one - wrapped it with 550 cord - neat, but needed another sheath. Within days I had passed it on to a friend headed to the 'the sandbox' as a mercenary plumber.

You want a Cadillac with chevy budget. The only way that will happen is If you look for something used(aside from the knives already mentioned).

Spyderco Native. 3" blade and little over $50 on the auction. Great ergos.

Well, you wanted to look at other options and everyone has their own tastes . . . but I'll chime in with the others who suggested giving the Spyderco Native another look. This is what I like about it (may or may not be relevant to you): Made in USA, S30v - nice & sharp & easy to touch up, versatile leaf blade shape which I like & can do a number of daily tasks well, finger choil, lightweight, blade length which allows me to carry it just about anywhere in my state, good lock (I prefer frame lock or lock back designs over a liner lock - am also looking into ball locks but don't have one), black pocket clip for discrete carry (not a big fan of shiny chrome clips), very reasonably priced though I don't find them in Wally World going for under $40 nowadays. I have more expensive folders but it seems that I often go back to the Native for EDC. Regards, - -
