Need a camping Axe. I love the Cold Steel Trail Hawk ... but need more durability

Yes. When using the head as a splitting wedge, apparently. Which I could see happening.

Just get a Estwing Rigger's Axe and call it good. :)

This...
Until I found my long lost Estwing E44A Campers Axe in the back of Wifey's Ford Flex.

We had a good size oak branch fall in the last storm...I broke it down into managable lengths very quickly and I really think the handle ergonomics played a role.

For Demo, carpentry and some wood harvesting, it's the Rigger hands down.
For feeding a camp fire, tent stakes and such...I'm going with the Campers Axe.

Somewhere I have the smaller blue Estwing with a straight handle...I'm dreading that search.

You should check out Gransfors bruks ...... here is some pics of the models currently on offerhistoriskayxor_eng3.jpgtimringsverktyg_produktblad_eng2.jpgyxor_produktblad_eng.jpg

Both of these have 22" haft. Council Tool Velvicut Hudson Bay, vintage Plumb. Either one would make a fine camp axe.

Just picked up the estwing campers axe, i think ya will like it.

Been an estwing fan forever. Good prices, lasts forever.

Dad has a hatchet by them that is older than i am. Awesome piece of steel.
