If you're a knife-maker with some free time and no back-log of orders. I'm looking for a 3" fixed blade EDC with either micarta or G10 handles and I NEED a gimped thumb-ramp. I'll spare the other details for e-mail or a VM communication.

I'm in RI which is why I need it to be less than 3" inches in length. The law states that the blade can't be more than 3 inches from the end of the handle to the tip of the blade and I wanna push it as far as I can with a ~2.8ish inch blade. A twenty-something year old recently got arrested in Woonsocket with a 3 and 1/8" blade so they really don't mess around and try to measure as much metal as they can. I do like your work there Chuck, I checked your website out yesterday actually and was impressed but saw that you mostly do folders, if you're willing to do a fixed then I'd absolutely be interested in one of your knives. Darrin, I will certainly keep you in mind and if you have any suggestions or designs you'd like to throw at me I'm all ears.

Basically here's what I'm looking for;
-Blade length no larger than 3" from the end of the scales to the tip of the blade and about 6.5" overall
-I think either textured canvas micarta or g10 scales, I just need something pretty grippy
-I'd also like a lanyard hole and gimping (maybe a thumb-ramp?)
-I would like it to feature a pretty deep choil
-I'm considering a bottle opener or a glass breaker (think ESEE Mil-Spie) on the butt of the knife.
-I'd like a pretty rust resistant steel that holds a decent edge but isn't crazy hard to sharpen (VG10, Sandvik, 154cm?)
-I'm undecided on blade shape/grind but I'd like a thicker stock of steel, maybe about a third of an inch?

For reference I'm a huge fan of Jesper Voxnae's designs by Boker like the Bobbi and Mini Pry, they're just a touch heavy and I'd like more handle. I also kind of like the Spyderco Enuff aside from the FRN handles and I feel I need more of a choil.

My uses will mostly be urban things such as cutting threads, opening mail, etc...but I also want it to handle light camping tasks in the summer like whittling, carving, cutting small bits of cord, it would be nice if it could withstand some light batoning, I just want something I know could handle it if push came to shove. I don't plan on using it for food prep as I have dedicated knives for that or things like that which is why I'm thinking a thicker blade with a solid tip would be nice, haven't really put much thought into blade shape. Also If you happen to be handy with Kydex, I'm going to need me a kydex sheath for a mini Tek-Lok.

Thanks for your offerings guys, I really appreciate any input as this is my first foray into owning a high end knife and I want to nail the design.

I sent you an e-mail there Chuck. What do you think of my general ideas for the knife? Any comments or thoughts you have? Mostly I need help deciding blade shape, material and grind at this point.
