Need a few kind words and thoughts for my dad

Thank you all for your kindness.

I talked to him earlier today. They found a 2cm lesion in his liver on a PET scan, and if I understood correctly, MRI is next to see if a biopsy is needed.

Like the CT, the PET showed no lymph node abnormalities, and he's waiting on official results from gastroscopy and colonoscopy/small intestine biopsy.

Whatever the end result is, he will not be alone in all this.

Good doctors, good wishes, and a lot of patience. it won't be easy but I join the others in wishing your dad a swift and complete healing.

Whatever the end result is, he will not be alone in all this.

That's the important part. Regardless of the outcome, the time you spend together going through this can still be time you look back on and treasure.

Stay positive Joe. Prayers for your family from the desert. Hang in there and treasure each day.

Update: Got a phone call earlier today.

He had a meeting with a couple of doctors (specialists) and they are not entirely convinced that mantle cell lymphoma is present. The other disorder (chronic lymphocyte leukemia) is most likely there, though. They did some tests (blood) and have some more testing to do over the coming months, but as far as treatment, nothing at this time. So, I guess, cautious optimism is what I got out of that phone call. He still feels ok, i.e. no symptoms.

We/I have received emotional support from wider family, people I have not seen in decades, from coworkers, people of all faiths and denominations, and of course the many kind people here at Bladeforums. Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.

I sincerely thank each and every one of you.

That's great to hear he's symptom free. We'll keep praying that he can retain that quality of life.

Tested positive for the ZAP70 marker, which suggests a more aggressive form of leukemia. However, the doctors don't want to say anything more definitive until another test comes back, something about VH gene mutations.

We'll see.

Hi SJ,
I was wondering what happened to you, sorry to read what's going on in your life with your father. Smoke sent!
