Need a few new EDC options

The steel (AUS8) seemed adequate, however a little more edge retention would be nice.

That pretty much rules out almost all the Chinese knives I can think of except for Kizer. Take a look at their lineup if you wish; their quality is on par with the premium American brands but they sell for only about a third or half of the price. Definitely worth considering if you want to stretch your dollar a little more.

Real Steel is using quite a lot of 14c28n, 440C and D2. Quality seems to be consistently high and they have a fair number of offerings.

Yes, but he mentioned a budget of $200. I really don't think anyone with that kind of budget will be interested in looking at something around the $30-$60 range.

I picked up a Real Steel H5 Gerfalcon at the same time as my ZT 0562 and it's a great little knife. Considerably lighter, lovely action, nice and sharp out of the box. You can tell it's not up to a ZT/Spyderco quality, but at the price point they go for with a good mid-range steel, it's excellent value and definitely worth a look.

That's a nice looking knife oz! How's the action? Love that blade shape also.

I love my Gerfalcon. I'd say it actually has better fit and finish than my 0350, but I'm drawing the conclusion some ZT's get more attention to detail than others. Best cheap knife I've laid my hands on by far.

Of the choices, I'd probably go for the 0562, despite the fact I don't like how much shoulder the grind has. I dislike the 940. Too long, narrow, and light for me. The Spyderco is a slicer for sure, but I'd be worried about the tip dressing game.

Not sure I agree. The 0562 is $70-100 more than the other two and, I'll tell you from personal experience, the handle on the 0562 works very badly for some hands. Hot spot on the pinky and ring finger the second I squeezed the knife a bit. I honestly think the Buck 830 Marksman is much more of a competitor.
Thanks for the heads up about possible hotspots on the 0562. I'll certainly be on the lookout for that.

I looked at some pics of the buck 830. Looks interesting. I'll have to find a video to see how that lock works.

The real steel is a nice looking knife. I couldn't find them on the smkw website, but if I can find one locally I'll give them a look.

Just can't go wrong with the PM2. The Gayle Bradley is my favorite folder of all time. The 940 -1501 is the one of that series you should look at. I have the 940 and 940-1. The 94X's carry better than any. They can handle any medium cutting task you need, the Bradley takes care of the hard stuff. The 560's do have hot spots in prolonged use for a lot of people. They are great knives though. Have fun choosing, you'll get more than one anyway:D

I know I'm a long time getting back to this post, however I finally made my decision.

I put a PM2 from a local dealer and am loving it so far. Thank you all for the help. No my problem is wanting all the other ones you guys told me about

Nice!!! Excellent choice!!
Which one did you get?? And no pics??? The horror!!!
You know I have to ask.....what's next???

I'm afraid no pics yet, I may try to grab some. Just standard PM2 with uncoated blade and black g10 handles. Although I am wondering about a deep pocket clip. Still up in the air on that.

In an odd turn of events, I found my SOG I lost about 2 years ago. Somehow it still works(ish). I'm considering sending it in for repairs. Surviving two winters in the dirt will cause some problems.

I'm not sure what will be next. I'm still eyeing the Benchmade 940's. Although Esee is catching my eye as well. I've never carried a fixed blade outside of the woods though.

You can't go wrong with a benchmade Griptillian. You can even go to their website and customize it with G10 or nylon handle and custom steel. I have a mini grip coming in with a nylon handle and M4 steel. The reason I ordered it was because I was impressed with my Benchmade AFO 2 auto knife(I live in Oregon, so it's completely legal) but I want something else to carry with a little more utility value. My AFO has a tanto blade which can be horrible to resharpen so I ordered the mini grip with a drop point blade to make it easier on myself
