Need a few opinions about an issue with my white owl

I have found the less enthusiasm you feel for a knife, the more you will find that you do not like about it. Really, you bought the wrong pattern if you want a big snapper. My suspicion is that you are going to keep wasting money sending it back and not being satisfied when it returns; because that is your inclination if you are still finding things that don't look right. You asked, so I will answer - I expect you are being too particular. But I am not holding the knife in my hand, and you are the one that gets to decide where your money is spent. But if the way a number is set on the bolster of a work knife bothers you - it is a fairly good indicator of your general attitude with a knife.

Not to be tacky, but you might be happier if you stuck with the RR's that are cut / ground / assembled by the latest technology and no man hours spared on the finishing. Or finding a maker that actually has a goal of making perfect knives. But once any given person gets to the point of making the comment (and it happens often) comparing the RR's to the Case / GEC / Queen knives; there is no response that will comfort the respective knife owner.

Thank you for your honest thoughts. You are telling me what I need to hear. I am thinking that I am being to critical just because I was not happy about the walk and talk. In reality if the spring holds the blade open it is good to go. I think I may just throw this one in my pocket and move along.

I know I am comparing apples to oranges with the RR vs. Northfield. I guess I have been spoiled by other Northfield knives that had plenty of walk and talk with no gaps. I have several Case knives such as the tiny toothpick and half congress (to name a couple) that have plenty of walk and talk. So I was thinking if these (even smaller knives) had better snapping action, then why can this knife that cost three-four times as much. After all it is just a knife and I may have been making a bigger deal out of it and that is why I posted here to get others opinions.

Thank you again,
John

Nevertheless, must be a disappointment getting such a knife. The 3 White Owls I have, two Tidioutes in wood and acrylic and a Cyclop's Works stainless in bone, all have very decent and satisfying snap on both blades. They certainly don't need to be assisted closing knives as it were. Some other single-springers I own from GEC, the Conductor have vigourous and loud snap so I don't think this is a pattern/design thing, you just got a weak example, unfortunately. Regards, Will
