Need a fixed blade for the outdoors

i would belt carry a mora and a a mulit-tool, with a full sized usmc in the pack. (and being me i'd probly have a stockman in the pocket)

Of the choices I would say SRK. Although I do not own a RAT so I cannot comment there. I do love full flat grinds though. Good luck on your choice.

Over the year I will be doing a lot more camping and hiking with my Boy Scout troop and friends. I need a good fixed blade that will help me in the outdoors for whatever task I will be doing. I would like the blade to be larger than 3 inches. I will be only carrying one knife so this fixed blade will be my primary.

Here's what I had in mind:
Cold Steel SRK
Rat Cutlery RC-4
Ka-Bar Becker Necker
Short Ka-Bar USMC Plain Edge

Any positive/negative comments on the ones I chose above? Other knife suggestions are also welcome. Thanks! :)
Out of those the Rat RC-4.

I would go with a Ontario RAT RC-3

Ontario Rat 3 and Rat Cutlery RC-3 are different knives from two different companies. Just to clarify :)

I would go with the RC4 for sure.

In response to scaring the boy scouts regime, i say in my experience with knives in public areas with other people, just be discreet do not doing anything with malice or in a fearful manner and you will be fine, just plain common sense.

I would skip the RC4 and get the RC6. Maybe pair it with an IZULA or an RC3 for the smaller slicing/food prep jobs. The RC4 and the RC6 are the same thickness but the RC6 is longer than the RC4 making it allot easier to batton and split firewood with. I dont know if you are going to be splitting firewood but if you find yourself needing to and without a camp axe, the RC6 will do the job just fine. Personally, i wouldnt want to batton with the RC3 or the RC4, i think they are both a little short for splitting those thicker, larger stumps. So i would definetly skip the RC4 completely and get the RC6 and maybe the 3 or IZULA to pair it up with for those finer jobs. That being said, the finer jobs can be done with the RC6, it has a nice choil so you can choke up on the blade and if you know what you are doing, it shouldnt be a problem at all.

Just my 2 cents
