Need a folder for carry when dressed up / more formal environments

I second the mcusta they make some real nice knives for the price point with wood and Damascus. I also think they use a core layer of VG-10 in the blade steel so it should keep a good edge. Also in that price range I would say the Sage 2. Light, Frame Lock, and S30v nice and thin also it will melt in your pocket. Or go with a Case pocket knife I love the Peanut in the orange bone handle or a Stockman in the Bluegrass bone they are classics and will not scare off any one. It the knife most of our grandfathers had in their pocket. Mine had a case peanut in his pocket till the day he died at 87.

+1 for Spyderco Lum, Kershaw Leeks, and Benchmade Shoki. I think any sage besides #3 would be great for a formal roll. I'm leaning a little bit towards the Sage 2 (I'm in a titanium mood!) then the Sage 1. Also, if you want to invest in a Chris Reeve, that would be a great, though costly idea.

Happy hunting!

Here's a post from another thread with a wonderful review by Schmalhaus (the knife is a Chambriard Le Thier Compact):

Schmalhaus you continue to be one of my favorite knife reviewers! Thank you for the history behind this great little knife. Vielen Dank!

I've got a Compact with Norwegian Birch Scales. I hope you don't mind if I post a few pictures.

Here it is with a Spyderco Caly 3 for size comparison:

The grain on the Norwegian Birch is rather intersting:

Like Schmalhaus says, the lines on the knife are beautiful!

Since you're not a fan of liner/framelocks, maybe the Fallkniven U2 or U4? Also worth looking into is the TK4.
