NASA - thru the GSA - is auctioning off a bunch of fabrication stuff in New Orleans. The TIG welders are currently going at $50. Look up GSA auctions or PM me if you need the site. They have other stuff too, bandsaws, lathes, etc. All operational from what I can tell.

I hope it's good stuff.

In good welders, you have to watch you can use them with 220v single phase.
Many of the big ones are 4 or 500 volt three phase, although the new inverter ones have more flexible input voltages.

Still you could buy one for $50 and resell or trade it in on one you can use.

I tried to do some govt auctions here, not so good.
for instance, they will get a new lathe in a shop on an armed forces base.
Then drag the old one outside, no grease, no tarps.... wait 6 months, then advertise it.

Buy without inspection except web photos - the admittance to the base is restricted.
Unless you get it dirt cheap and can afford a rebuild or regrind, it's a lot of work for no advantage.
