Need a good EDC that does the following:

Still think a Benchmade Grip would answer most of your requests.
The Axis lock is a very fast slick opener and oh so safe too.
This knife can cut most things and it's a reasonable price and durable.

The auto part would be for self defense

Not a particularly good choice then :). Choose a fixed blade such as the SOG Pentagon and you will be far better served,
also avail yourself in the freedoms of a CCL, and purchase a decent 10mm Auto pistol.

Switchblades really aren't particularly hot when it comes to defence, no more so than many other folding designs and certainly not fixed blades.

Agreed with most of the posters who tell you you really don't want an auto. A good thumbhole or flipper will open the knife just a fast as the auto will. If an auto has a small button you will fumble trying to find it, and if it has a big one then you run the risk of hitting it and having it open while in your pocket.

Plus, there's the legal issue: here in Kentucky there's no legal difference between carrying an auto and carrying a gun, but the law specifically makes it OK to carry an "ordinary pocket or hunting" knife. FL may be similar.

Besides, autos scare the sheeple.
