Need a hatchet recommendation

I have a small Wetterlings I bought from Ben's Backwoods. Sharpened it up and good to go!

EMT Lee, not sure how it was done. It lasted for a year or so before destruction. Broke about 2" below the head. I'm sure it took a blow or two there, so decided on a hickory handle instead. I'm just not confident in plastic handles on a chopper. I'm sure in the hands of an experienced woodsman it will work O.K.

i have been looking at lee valley's bearded hatchet for a while now, i also like that you could skin something out if you needed too

Get a Wetterlings 14'' hatchet.
Wetterlings are good quality - they sharpen up to a shaving edge easly and keep it long enough ;)

i aggree with spookey pistolero @ cwl.these may be the last of hand forged. pricey but the best ive ever used.if you have lots of time; go to garage sales. if packing 'go with wood handles. in a pinch you can make a new handle from a sapling ......e witho with

MNeedham, now all you need is a beat up hockey mask and you won't have any campers bothering you. HeHe.....

My wife says I don't need a mask to do that... Since finding cleavers, I don't use a traditional hatchet much.. But I LOVE this cleaver/hatchet blade. It is heavy, but very sharp. I can't enough of this thing....
