Need a knife for my old lady

She'll take good care of it and will probably ask me to sharpen it once every couple of months. It needs to be small and have some feminine appeal.

I was thinking about a chive rainbow. Look, I'm not saying it's a girly knife, I'm just saying it might appeal to a woman.

Any thoughts? A better idea?

I suggest getting her something that looks good but is large enough for her to really be able to use efficiently. Don't go too small.
I think guys find small knives interesting, but women want a nice looking, useful tool.

I gave a female friend a choice of several knives and she picked a Benchmade 941.

Just because she is a woman, doesn't mean she likes pink. I AM a woman, and personally HATE pink. Don't assume!

How about a Fallkniven WM1? It's one of yhe most usefull knife designs I've ever seen, for women AND men.

A lady-friend of mine used to be enamored with my benchmade 921, so extrapolating from that and the previous love of the 941, I'd say to go with anything in benchmade's 9xx series with colour anodized aluminum scales (921/940/941/960, etc). They're slick, pretty, and nice to use.

T.K.C.,
But then again, I'd be willing to argue that the majority of the female American population is not registered on bladeforums.com and isn't into knives as much as you. Most women may be turned off or absolutely repulsed by a Strider RC, Spyderco Military, or CR Sebenza. But then again, I don't want to be assuming you like or don't like those three knives either.

John Bobbit's wife had a 12 inch butcher knife. Your ole lady might like one of those. I'd say it would be a better reminder to remain faithful than even a wedding band.

My wife loves knives, hates pink and her favorite user is a Benchmade mini-Griptilian in purple. Take a look at them...good knives, reasonable cost, smooth action and good lockup.

my girl carries when she remembers a rainbow chiveor a pink chive but she also loves blackout tantos that look wicked as hell so I never assume just suggest. I would have given the same idea as The Motivator but mostly so she wouldn`t have to worry about the sheeple around her bothering her about why does she have a knife all the time, the cuteness factor of a knife makes it people friendly .Much like if you use a nicely checkered and engraved shotgun for home defense you would be much better off in a court room later than if you use a black combat style shotgun.

P.S. I also suggest something small at first so she can get use to using and carrying a knife and it`s nice to get used to it when they are small and get bigger with time .I know I carried smaller knives when I first started out but then I was 6 at the time.

The stainless Spyderco Cricket and Spin make outstanding purse knives. They're both small, ultra-lightweight, have excellent VG-10 steel, and cut like razors. (etched versions shown below)

Get her an Alias II. I just got one of those in trade and the minute my wife saw it it was hers...:(
