I am looking for someone to make me a knife. What I am looking for is very much like the following pictures. The main differences are the fullers in the blade are not necessary, the blade needs to be 13 to 15 inches long and sharpened on the top of the knife for 3 to 4 inches. The blade needs to be a minimum of ¼ inch quality steel and full tang construction. The handle needs to be at least 6 inches long (actual gripping surface minimum of 5 inches) the handle needs to be of a non-slip material or fashioned in such a way to facilitate good grip in wet conditions. Would also prefer a sheath out of kydex, no leather or wood.
I am a archeologist and do the majority of my work in South America. The McCurdy blade I have been using is just a bit small for most of the work I have tried to use it for, the knife in the pictures is a second knife I purchased when I got its twin. The horn handle is much to slick for jungle work and the handle is too small for my hands, on the original I replaced the handles with wood after the rivets loosened from use. The blade held up very well with the abuse that I gave it, was easy to sharpen and held a good edge. The sheath came apart and the knife was lost in a river.
