Need a little help

I've owned a LOT of Busse knives and love them but literally only a couple came from the factory acceptably sharp and most had a very obtuse edge.

If you like the knife shape and ergos, I'd recommend to modify the knife and make it your own as the chances of your next Busse being sharper aren't that good, realistically.

There's a reason Busse advertises their knives as the toughest in the world and not the sharpest. At least with the obtuse edge you have options......leave it obtuse and you chop concrete blocks, baton and dismember cars or you can have the edge reprofiled and a sharp, legitimately tough knife. That's what I'd recommend but that's just me....

This is good advice, Josh at Razor's edge knives can fix you up and also refresh your canvas grips for a very, very, fair price-The NMSFNO is too good a piece to let go. Keep it and make it work for YOU! Good Luck:cool::thumbsup:

I appreciate all the relpies. I like everything about the knife, except the way it cuts. That sounds pretty strange when talking about its primary job. I have decided to have someone reprofile slightly. Maybe it won't be worth as much, but I will actually use it.

Here is redman2006's sweet NMSFNO.

When I started buying Busse and kin knives i also learned to do convex edges. I've had a couple recent Busse's that had perfect convex edges TG and Boss St Anorexic LE. The rest I've convexed.

I started out on sandpaper over a leather strop, and progressed to a Kalamazoo belt sander.

I have a Bark River Bravo 1 that has a convex edge. I can keep it pretty sharp, and I like it a lot, other than some pretty significant issues with what appears to be a soft edge. I understand that they tend to be hit and miss on quality, which is a shame because I like it so much otherwise. Since I started with that one, I have convexed a couple of cheap knives just to see if I could.

Thank you very much for posting those. I was having a heck of a time. What picture service do you use?
