need a new beater

Kabar fighting knife
BK2
Specs plus
Glock field knife (needs a good sharpening though)

I'm probably one of only a few that like the glock knife, it doesn't do much well but it will get things done. Its also a great throwing knife and can take one hell of a beating.

I'm surprised nobody said Buck 110 yet. Or Buck Special. I also really like the Ontario Spec line of knives. They are a great bargain for hard use knives.

ok, so my budget just jumped up to 150ish, any ideas? right now im looking at the bravo 1 and the f1

Both are great choices, and you should decide based on personal preference I think. The major differences here would be that the Barkies have more handle choices and the F1 is stainless (in this price range). Happy hunting!

I know ya'll get tired of hearing this, but the ulimate beater is Mora. probably the 760. Spend the ten bucks, your immediate needs are met, your budget is barely dented, and when you find your dream knife, you have an excellent spare.

$150? You can get:

ESEE: 3, 4, 5, 6, (10 more bucks can get you a junglas)

Becker: all of them

If you're looking at folders I'd get a Manix 2 or Military.

Do you want your knife to cut? Chop? Pry? ESEE 3, 4, 6 are all good cutting knives. The ESEE-5 and the beckers make good prying knives (if there is such a thing) If I were in the military and they let me carry which ever knives I wanted I'd probably carry a Mora for cutting tasks and maybe the Becker Tac-Tool or something similar for breaching, chopping and such.

I love Spyderco and the FFG endura but I would rather have the Sabre ground blade for a "beater" the FFG endura's blade is very thin.

I would go BK2 for sure. It is the picture in the dictionary next to "beater" :D

I'd say a used military or endura, but since you have a blade requirement of 4-5", lets say a used military or used spyderco police g10. a used bench made 710 would be great too but that's too short I think, so it wont meet your requirements.

Hands down BK2. 1/4 inch thick tough as nails.

BK2...it is the right length, price range and is a pry bar as well! Then after you have had it a while upgrade your grips to the micarta. That is a nice knife! I have an RC5 but I prefer the BK2 with the micarta handles. However the edge and warranty from ESEE is second to none!
