Need a new EDC, mines in an evidence locker

So without providing too many details, my Spyderco Persistence is now sitting in an evidence locker. It was used to cut off the shirt of a subject in order to administer first aid (vague enough for ya) and needless to say it got a little bloody and was recovered as evidence.

My Leek will suffice for the meantime but I really like the size and shape of the blade on the Persistence (and price). So I could just get another but I'd like to upgrade a little but trying to keep it sub $100. Maybe a Manix 2 at a good price...? Suggestions?

Even if I do get her back (which probably won't be any time soon) she'll probably have a little red tint to her...

I would look at the Manix 2 translucent blue, it is light weight and full flat grind, which is more similar to the Persistance. I love the regular Manix 2 but you may find it to be a bit heavy, and it has a different blade shape.

Thanks. I've seen the blue version but thought it was only the scales that were different. I'll check it out. Although color doesn't necessarily matter to me either, since I'll probably Duracoat and pretty-up whatever I get.

^^ They have a Black Lightweight Manix 2 as well if you like Black better.
I prefer G-10 over the FRCP handles. Also on the G-10 the steel is better.

Spyderco Dragonfly comes to mind - VG-10 or ZDP-189 steel is an option. Or you can get the G-10 in VG-10. It's a great little knife. You seem to like smaller.

Oh! Have you looked at the Delica and Endura yet? Or my favorite Spyderco around the same range of the Delica and Endura is the Spyderco Native Lightweight which has s30v steel, comfortable handle, feels good in hand and pocket, slices well, and makes a great EDC.

Kershaw Knockout or if you don't like assisted opening the Kershaw R.A.M. :) If your only wanting Spyderco then the Mannix 2 is nice or of course the Paramilitary 2.

I'd just get a normal manix 2, unless the FFG blade on the lightwieght really does it for you, get that.

Manix 2 is a solid knife, no doubt.

As a former owner of one I'd like to point out that it does take up a good amount of space in the pocket, the weight is fine and the thickness isn't too bad but it has a large footprint (if I remember correctly it's around 2 inches at its widest point).

Just something to keep in mind if that sorta thing bothers you.

Manix 2 lighweight for sure. 3oz. doesn't get much lighter for the size of blade, and I believe it's in your 100 price range.

Spyderco Caly; caly 3, caly 3.5, or calypso sprint run. Caly 3.5 is 3.1 oz, 3.5" blade and a very small profile in the pocket. favorite deep carry wire clip and 0.364" thick i forget i have it most of the time.

Lots of nice recommendations, I got some research to do. I like the idea of a deep pocket carry for my type of use.
