Need a new EDC, mines in an evidence locker

After all those suggestions I think ivr narrowed it down to two....and surpringly neither were suggestions, although the suggestions put me in the right direction.

I'm between the Spyderco Sage and Chaparral I think, just wish I could find a G10 model. These seem like newer models as well. Anyone have any experience? Haven't found a bad review yet.

I have a Sage I, and find it every bit as good as the reviews. Compared with your Persistence (I do not own one, just going by specs), you get better steel, larger blade, same weight, and imo even better ergonomics and handle material. I really like the "choke up" choil on the blade. The CF handle material has just the right grip and a very good feel and continues to look great after pocket time. It also looks a little dressier than G10, so while it is a hard worker, you see it recommended as a gentleman's knife as well. I have never used it with gloves on or in wet conditions, so I can't say how it compares to G10 under those conditions.

The workmanship is first rate, the action is smooth, and the lock-up is very solid. I am relatively new to quality knives and this was my first $100 knife, so I gulped a few times before ordering it. I was not at all disappointed. In fact, the design and execution are done so well that it seems like good value if you want to be in that price range.

If you're not opposed to something not Spyderco, maybe try the Griptilian. I thought it was going to be heavy and bulky, but I love it. It is way lighter than I thought and I got it for $75. It replaced my Delica which I thought would be my favorite knife.

You JUST had a $30-$40 knife taken from you for who knows HOW long. Guaranteed, it will returned to you a corroded nasty mess, if it had any sort of blood on it. Now, you're considering a model costing 4x as much? Think long and hard about that. It's like wearing a ROlex on-duty, with all of the knock-around you and that watch are subjected to. Not a good move, IMHO. But....I do know the allure of good equipment.

I understand your point but by that logic I might as well carry a High-Point or so he other low grade, CHEAP handgun as opposed to the gen 4 Glock 21 or H&K USP..... since in a shooting that's the first thing that goes.

Plus, it'll be my full time knife, not just at work and in my current position it doesn't take too much abuse; this was an exigent circumstance. Oh.... And I'm getting reimbursed for the Persistence.
