hey all,
Just got the green light from Uncle Sam to ship out in July!!!! only problem is i need a knife to tag along with me.

I want to buy a new a BenchMade, thus the previous Axis Lock question thread, to bring along.
I was thinking along the lines of either a: Pardue 530, Griptilian 551, or a mini-onslaught 746

which one?? or is there another i should get

can't have assisted, unfortunately

I wouldn't even think about the mini onslaught, the edge is really thin, tip is fragile, and the clip is mirror polished/dosn't have very good retention. Can't speak to the other knives...

Of the three you mentioned, the 551 is by far the most rugged. Also not so expensive as to be a big problem if it were lost. Also lightweight. 154cm is a fine work steel.

I gave my buddy a benchmade 375 for his next deployment. He loves it, and attached it to his vest.

I like benchmade, but the clip really dose suck. I would consider a multytool to go along with the knife to....

Oh I do, have a choice of a sidekick, mut, super 300 (in black), or an OHT HAAHA, all depends what I'm exactly doin.... So know till July :/

I'd get a Strider PT. Is a short blade, so it will "allowed" just about on any duty you'd be on. Heavy-duty and great warranty if needed.
I've had several; they are nice. For cheaper, and still less than 3" blade, would reco a Spyderco Techno. Great knife for about $150 on the Exchange.
Thank you for your service. Be safe.

Mini Griptilian with M4 steel. This is an incredible knive for a little over $100. The M4 really holds an edge.

I am not sure how corrosion resistant it will be if you are going to be at sea, but I am sure if you keep it clean it will take care of you.

as do with all knives :) will definitely check it out

Just out of curiosity, why can't you have an assisted? Also some third world countries judge a man by his blade type more so then his gun. Just a fun fact to think about. Be safe!

Just a rule that they have, that n it just means just 1 more part to maintain for me. I really like assisted but I'd waste more time fondling it than working haha

Be safe?!? What fun is that? Lol

What job will you be performing? As a grunt, I would prolly bust the 530 within a month. A 530 is what you buy for your old lady when she hints at wanting a knife. Get a ZT0200. Then send it to me for a wave job.

Ok, niner I have to.
It's "Does" and "multitool"
Sorry, but it was bugging me.

MN try customizing a Grip. You can change the scale color, and pick between 4 steels.

The Onslaught is a nice knife, but he's right, the tip is very very thin.

I did just that, she loves it.

The 530 is a tiny, fragile knife. I can pinch the sides of the handle together with my fingers, the "steel liner" goes about a half inch into the frame, that's it.

If you're worried about parts needing maintenence and breaking, the axis lock series is probably something to stay away from. Those little Omega springs break, sometimes often.

Everyone likes to poopoo liner locks, but Spdyerco's Military and Al Mar's SERE 2000 both have excellent, thick liner locks that come perfectly adjusted and seem to last forever. My SERE 2000 is the smoothest folder I've ever handled, with the best liner lock, even counting customs costing many times as much.

It's not that, I love liner but I want to carry something else this time...... My original was a tenacious

Get a framelock.

Does was my fault *shrug* I blame "multytool" on auto correct.
