need a new knife

I don't have much use for knives with blade lengths of 3-inches or less. Still, there are many 3-inchers out there that are worthwhile. My favorite is a Spyderco Native. They may or may not be available (used to be sold at Wal*Mart). It has an S30V blade and fits the hand quite well.

CRKT has a nice little knife with a titanium handle. Can't recall what the model is, but I think it's an M16-01T. I also have an 8011 Viele/Wasp, also made by CRKT.

Finally, I love the Cold Steel Voyager 3-inch. You have to hold it to appreciate it. And the polished blade can get wickedly sharp.

There are all sorts of great knives around, so almost any good brand will do. But I couldn't live with a 3-incher. I'd need at least a 4-. The state law about being armed and dangerous with a 3 1/2-inch blade is ridiculous -- but the law is the law.

You just reminded me about Cold Steel. They had new Voyagers for sale and were to be released a few months ago but cancelled them. I had a 3" and a 4" blade knife on order when they were cancelled. I may wait till they come out with them which they said would be in the spring. Maybe I'll check out the one that you have. I really did like the look of the new model and was looking forward to the VG-1 steel. I think the new ones were going to be laminated with VG-1 and 420HC. Most of Cold Steel's knives were AUS-8A if I remember which I really want something a little harder. VG-1 is supposed to be comparable to VG-10 unless I'm mistaken.

Thanks,
Jack
