He is a picky bastard and wants everything for nothing. He didn't say he wanted a Spyderco but based on how much money he wanted to spend and what he wants out of a knife, I don't see any other maker that can give it to him.

He wants a large blade of at least 3.5" but 4-41/2" would not be too large either. He liked my CF Military so that is not too large for him.

He wants it to be easy to flick open and easy to close.

He wants it to be strudy when open like a fixed blade.

He wants to spend very little. I think $50 is his max limit. I know, I know, but I am going to be buying it for him so I can go a little more than that and just not tell him.

He thinks he wants hollow ground but I prefer flat ground so that is not an deal killer.

The last one I got him was a D'allara DP PE. I really thought he would like it but he says it is too bulky and heavy. So he wants something with a blade as long but not as bulky. I suggested the Cent 4 but he thinks it is too thin.

What I am left with is the Endura. The only problem is, I am not a fan of the Endura 4 and the E-3 are getting hard to find. Also, I am not a fan of the Endura in general and I want him to have a great knife.

So what are his options other than an Endura. I know the price is going to be a big issue but maybe I am missing something.

What do you find wrong with the endura? FWIW, I've been edc my S30V native since early jan and find its barely noticable in the pocket and cuts great; but to be fair it hasnt seen much 'real' use yet. And the blade is a little short at 3" or maybe a little more.

Maybe a Manix? I also love the Native with S30V.

But, based on what you mentioned it looks like an Endura of what ever variation you can find.

I wish I had a brother who would buy me a Military!

I say get him a Military.

Get him a Spyderco "Byrd" CARA CARA with G10 handles. It's everything he is looking for.......Long Blade, Sturdy, Slim Design, and cheap!

Hey that is an idea! I forget about the Byrds. I won't buy one but it would be great for my brother. That and the Endura look to be the best options.

That is why I posted this question. I thought I knew pretty much all the Spydercos but I also knew that I was probably over looking an option.

The thing is, our tastes are so different that I am not as up to date on his wants. I know all the Spydercos that meet the requirements that I have but I am pretty much only into the flat ground Spydercos with a few exceptions. He actually prefer hollow ground so I thought I might have forgot a hollow knife in there.

Now I wish I had all those Enduras back that I have owned. I could just give him one and see what he thought about it. I have had pretty much every major variation of the Endura.

For $50 you would almost have to look at a used Endura 3 to get a blade from Spyderco.

Byrd would be a better bet, I think.

I just see a military carbon fibre one with modified clip and minor scuff on the scales going for 45.44 on ebay....

other ideas a waved endura or steel handle endura or a police

Kgriggs8,

Whatis it that you dislike about the Endura? The E4 Wave is one of my favorite folder designs in overall value.
