Need a new tank

+1 to the 300...i have both the 350 and 300 and the 300 is a freaking tank!

I have both the Super Commander and the 0560, and would have a tough time choosing just one. I love the flipper and framelock on the ZT, along with the elmax steel but I have to admit that the ergo's on the emerson are better and the knife feels nicer in hand after long periods of use. The recurve blade on the super commander makes it a hell of a slicer compared to the spearpoint on the 0560, but the KVT on the 560 makes the emerson feel like its full of gravel when opening. If you already have a commander, i'd pick up a 560 just for variety's sake and to check out a couple of the features.

Thanks for all the comments!

Finally decided to get both :)

but as I had made my decision, one of my friends had a wise piece of advice: for the combined price of both the ZT560 and the Super Commander, I could get a Sebenza --- so now I'm back to square one. Comments?

Thanks for reading!

The 550 and 300 do feel more "tank like", but the 560 is just as much of a tank, IMHO. The 550 and 560 are almost the same weight. That's just because the 560 was milled out in all the places where it was okay to mill it out without compromising the integrity at all. A knife doesn't have to be super heavy to actually BE a tank. It also feel more like a tank because it feels thinner and it's 3D contoured. Still just as strong as the 300 or 550. It's also a bigger knife, so that fact that it's not fat, heavy, and small make it feel less tank-ish. That's the beauty of the 560. It IS a TANK, but it handles much easier. Everything about it is SUPER strong. It's actually very similar in construction to the 300, it just doesn't have a bunch of excess weight.

I would highly suggest the 0560. It is a great durable knife, and it's simply a tank. A sebenza is not what I would call a tank. It is more of a gentlemen's folder in my opinion.

0560 is a nice knife but it's not a tank...I don not consider any knife that I can flex in my hand to be a tank. 0550/0551 is kind of a tank but just barely. 0300/0301 is a tank and if you don't mind the $ an XM-24 is definitely a tank.

Just curious what did you mean by flexing in your hand? You mean the frame? If so then DAMN that's a strong hand.

I second the 0200 and 0300. I have several Emersons and my 0200 has their big and strong feel beat with an even bigger and stronger feel.

Also, the 0560 has the lock-bar cutout on the outside for that very reason, as do other hard use tactical framelocks (Strider and Hinderer).

That's what I was thinking. I've tried, pretty forcefully, and I can't get it flex any more than any other knife, if at all. Hard to tell if it is flexing, or my hand! I am a rather small dude, though.

I can flex the G10 side no problem. I guess my hand is pretty strong considering how many times I've broken it.:boxing: 29yrs of weight training would account for my hand strength, especially strapless deadlifts and shrugs. I used to manage a gym and was a personal trainer but now my job can be very physical in a different way.:D BTW I'm not hating on the 0560, it's one of my favorite edc's which I carry when I don't want to risk one of my more expensive knives. The 0560's contoured & milled out scales, milled out & longer lock bar, longer lock bar cutout and longer distance between the 1st & 2nd standoffs make it a weaker design imho than the 0550. You could even make an argument that the longer blade length would need to have a larger pivot, due to the increased leverage, to be as strong as the shorter 0550. Either way it's not a weak knife by any definition and is a great compromise between strength and weight but it's not a tank.
