Need a PE Manix - Where can I go?

All,

Hate to bug you with this, I know they are discontinued but..
My Brother in law needed a knife because he was using cheap give a ways from his plumbing distributor - and the lock failed on him - put him in the hospital - :grumpy: - any way he needed something that he could use hard and reliably - so I lost my mind and gave him my Manix.. (Which by the way is serving him exceedingly well - and has for months :)

Now - I finally got the $$ together to replace it - Is there ANY place on line that might still have one??

I have had great luck using the spyderco website to find stores that carry Spydercos. Most of the places are just run of the mill sports shops and the people there don't know anything about anything concerning spydercos, but I did find a number of out of production Spydies (a blue and black yojimbo, lil temperence, just to name a few) from the victronox store in CT. Look it up through the spyderco website and look at stores in ct. Because the manix only recently was discontinued I am pretty confident that they will have at least one. They had three blue yojimbos as of the other day.
 
A couple people have decided to hoard Manixes for themselves. I have "a few." They are not for sale and should be more than enough for a lifetime. Hopefully you will come upon someone willing to give up one of their's. Good luck!
 
Check eBay. They have some there right now. Average price range is around $120-130 shipped, they are all mostly combo edge though. Also be sure to check the sellers feedback.

about two weeks ago i spent hours searching the web for this knife, and finally found a place in texas that had TWO! needless to say i bought them both.

i can tell you that it is one hard puppy to find. the ps version is still out there, and the mini can be found in pe, but the fullsize pe is really tough to get.

some of the sites had them listed as "in stock" but they were not.

i plan to hold on to these two, i'm sure they will increase in value.

I’m sorry if this is a dumb question or has been answered before but why did Spyderco discontinue the Manix? That was my favorite Spyderco folder (Full-Sized PE) and I was sad to see that it will no longer be available.

Far as i can remember, the Golden factory is at full capacity, so something had to go to make room for new models. Additionally, the Mini Manix was selling better than the full sized one.

another knife you may consider if you're looking for a really tough folder (that is easy to find/same price) is the zt 0200, just bought one of those and it certainly is in the manix-class of solidity.

comparing the two, to me the manix is almost too nice for me to beat it up, the fit and finish is beautiful (although i have no doubt that it can do the job).

the zt is a more rugged military type that screams "give it all ya got"!

i don't think you could go wrong w/ either one, they are both really well made and good deals at the price they are sold for.

If you lived in Canada.....wouldn't be a problem. The place still has them all in stock, but only ships to Canadian addresses.
