Need a recommendation for a budget EDC

Just a thought- there are a of of organizations that will give away a decent knife with a year membership. The best deal I got was renewing my yearly membership with the Backcountry Hunters and Anglers (BHA) association for $30 and they included a really nice CRKT knife free. I know that Rocky Mountain Hunters offer a knife as well as many others. On the other hand, the worst knife I have ever owned was ironically when I became a life member of the NRA.
Maybe a quick Google search might get you a decent knife along with supporting a cause you approve of, some of them come with subscriptions to a magazine too, and a few are even tax deductible like BHA that I mentioned!BHA CRKT.jpg

Kershaw has a few that fit well...

The Amplitude, the 1025CU Copper Cinder, 1885 Entropy, The Natrix and the Shuffle (Either Shuffle or Shuffle II).

Nothing vanishes in the pocket quite like a Spyderco Ladybug. No need to use the clip, just drop it in.

Lots to look at in this realm, something will grab you.

Either the Santa Fe or Amarillo from Tangram might fit the bill here. These are pretty nice for the price. Blades are thin and slicey. The Acuto 440 is decent.

If $42.50 isn't too much, you could look at the 9Cr18Mov Civivi knives. Quality is outstanding. Not sure if the Baklash is thin enough for you but maybe worth a look.

I've heard good things about Ruike but I don't have much experience with their folders.

A Victorinox Alox Electrician is an amazingly high quality, solid knife that's classy enough to play the role of gentleman's knife and the small sheepsfoot blade is an awesome package opener.

No one will freak out if you pull this beaute out. The awlnis super handy and more solid than the regular SAK awls. Also an amazing fire steel striker.

Cap lifter has its benefits as well! :D

The main blade is larger and also stout than the 84 and even the other 91mm SAKs.

No pocket clip and no keyring.

Slide it into your pocket or into a pocket sheath.

I do have a ladybug and a few other Spyderco and love them. With his purchase Im trying to get away from the wideness that comes from the Spydie hole.

I am a big fan of SAKs and have a bunch of them. If not for my bad habit of ripping at my fingernails I would carry them every day!

Does anyone have any experience with the Gerber Jukebox? Now I am not a huge Gerber fan for various reasons, and this knife doesn't really check too many of the boxes I laid out in my OP, but I stumbled on this model online and the tortoise handles have me hypnotized lol.

Civivi backlash is in the 40 range. Lightweight flipper knife. Decent steel. Stainless ball bearings. Deep carry clip and G10 scales. Can’t ask for much more for that price range

Ruike p801 if >3” blade is acceptable.
The Rat2 if it’s not.
Not sure what the Leek goes for on Amazon but definitely worth a look.

Ruike p801 is a great knife at $30.
14c28n steel and comes with a deep carry clip.

The Manly Peak is only $5 cdn more, one handed and a back lock and longer... But I have no experience with them.

According to the specs, it's double the edge thickness, so not likely near the slicer of the wasp.
You should try the peak. They brought back the hole version to Canadians :). Peep their site. The hole looks more oval now.

I'll second the Buck Slim Selects. Very well made knives and well within your budget.
I don't know if they're still on sale, but last week you could get the Slim Pro models for $64 (112 Ranger) and $72 (110 Folding Hunter). A little out of your price range, but with the Pro you get S30V steel and Micarta/G10 handles.

Hey folks. I'm looking to treat myself to a new EDC folder. I'd like something slim, deep carry clip, decent steel, no more than $40. It needs to be one hand opener or at least able to pull open with fingers. My nails are often too short for nail Nick's.

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a Steel Will Intrigue Mini but I wanted to see if you all had any other recommendations. Ontario RAT 2 is my current second choice. Really looking for something that doesn't take up a lot of pocket space. Bonus points it has a caplifter on it.

Dozier designed Ka-Bar folders are nice and within your price range. They are good designs, decent steel and not expensive.
