I own three pair of oakleys and I'm about fed up with thier quality. Mine are all polarized. One of my oakley SI m-frame's polarization is totaly screwed with air bubbles all over the lens making the vision blurry and I'm sure it affects the polarization. My other m-frame's polarization is starting to chip off already. Just the over all fit and finish is lacking imo too. I've either gotten them for free or for a really good deal so I'm not going to deal with any warranty stuff.

Do any of you have recommendations for sunglasses? Does anybody wear american opticals? They make the original aviators. I've heard good things about bolle, raybans, and maui jims? What do you guys recommend? I'm not getting anything over $150 though.

Maui Jims- I thought it was just more yuppy/fashion BS but my optometrist and my friends Lasik doctor both recommend them. My eye doctor says they use good glass and are ground properly and that they filter some harmful wavelengths- or something like that (they're also polarized)- the clincher for me was when I put them on and my eyes just went "Ahhh". Check them out before making your decision.

I have a $150 pair of polarized Bolle Montauk sunglasses that I absolutely love. They fit and grip my head really well - I've never ever had problems with them falling off. They also have great lenses, they rarely let glare through and have resisted scratches really well for almost 2 years so far.

I see them online for just under $100 and free shipping. Yowza!

I been wearing my Oakley metal frames for about 6 years. I send them in every couple years for a rebuild, I think its $75. Vuarnet ans ISKI did me very well for a long time too

Double Ditto, have used Maui Jims for over 6 years now, still snaps closed tight, never had problem one. Love them, a little heavier than some, but it is worth the extra ounces.

I personally only wear Bolles. Light and tough. While I like their lenses I send mine in to Elton Optics to get Prescription Eagle lenses put in. They are the absolute best!

The polarization doesn't chip or wear off. If there is a problem with your lenses I would suggest giving Oakley a call.

I bought a few pair of Oakleys recently and I think they will be my last. A lot of them seem to be cheaply made. The one pair that I really like the style are starting to have some of the lens coating bubble up. I have looked into sending them back but they only have a 1 year warranty and you have to have a receipt from an authorized Oakley dealer. If you only warranty your product for a year then it seems like you know they are going to fall apart eventually. Mine were gifted to me so I don't have any proof of purchase and even if I did buy them I probably wouldn't still have the receipt.

I have both Maui Jims and Costa del mar that are pretty great. Not sure about the Maui Jim warranty but I know the costas have a lifetime warranty. I have also had Smiths in the past that were nice but don't have any now. They also had a lifetime warranty I believe, if not they still took care of you without giving you a hassle.

I have had more than one pair of glasses have the coating start to come off. A good warranty is important to me. I don't know if it is because of my sweat or because they frequently get salt spray on them but it sucks to have a pair of glasses you take really good care of and don't have any scratches get ruined because the lens starts to deteriorate.

I'll second these. I have had a pair of these for about 4 months and love them. I always had Gargoyles and as of late the quality has really gone down. I bought mine when they had a lifetime warranty on them. I sent them in because the arm pivots were loosening. They sent me the wrong frame and said to bad. The frames did not fit the lenses I had from the original pair.

The Wiley-X Glasses are real nice. Many different styles and came with extra lenses, a hard case and a microfiber wipe.

i have had my oakley's for 7 years. and they are still goin. these are more of an investment into sunglasses. you are paying more but you are getting high quality sunglasses

I just got my first pair of maui jims and love them. Hands down the best pair of glasses I own. Igot the dark lenses

i actually have a pair of oakley small gascans and love them. No problems, took a month or so to adjust and my can't say anything bad. My cousin has owned a couple pair and my uncle has and all of us love em. Maui jims are nice too.

one thing that I really admire about Oakley is that most, if not all, of their stuff is USA made. I don't even think Maui Jim has anything made in the US, not that that means they make crap, but in this day and age, it's definetly admireable.

Yep, I do, love 'em.
