I need the most sheeple friendly fixed strong blade as possibly, nothing too big, but it needs to be a workhorse, but cant be too big, no Moras please. thanks :]

Cant be too expensive either

I'd go for a CRK&T made Razel (designed by the Graham Brothers), provided you don't need it right this minute.

Last I heard, they're due to start shipping next month, with "suggested" prices around $90, and many retailers already listing them closer to $60-$70 or so. Either the standard stubby razel or the ringed razel are options.

I've got a custom Graham Brothers Razel, and I have to say, it's awesome. Very sturdy, very tough, and the lack of normal point on it makes it very "sheeple" friendly. People are more likely to look at it and think "tool" than they are with most fixed blade knives.

Buck diamond back
CS finn bear,
Buck Omni hunter ($25 again)
CS Canadian belt knife,
CS finn wolf,
CS roach belly,
CS GI Tanto
CS bushman & bushman bowie
Kershaw echo ($30)
And the cream of the crop, moras.

Around $50,

Buck 119,
Buck nighthawk,
Buck Gen-5 skinner (black one),
Buck alpha hunter,
Ka-bar short USMC,
Gerber prodigy,
Sog seal pup,
CS pendelton hunter,
Bm fixed griptillin ($60).

Assuming that all of those are cheap enough, If I were you I would save up my money until I could afford a bark river, fallkniven or rat cutlery. I have just listed all the knives I could think of that are considered cheap, I don't know what is considered sheeple friendly in your neck of the woods so check all of them out.

Knifesupply.com has the best prices I have ever seen. http://www.knifesupply.com/index.html

Fallkniven F1.
Can look combat with a kydex or "Survival sheath".
Can look plain practical with the current zytel sheath.
Can look hunting knife looking with open dangler sheath.
Can look like something else with the old closed leather sheath.
Can look like invisible if worn in a neck sheath (modified dangler)

Fallkniven F1 is the best non combat looking survival knives there is.
Fallkniven F1 is the best survival knife there is.
Fallkniven F1 is the best allround knife there is.
Fallkniven F1 is my favourite. Period.

I carry my RAT Cutlery RC-3 daily without problems. I carry it in its standard tan sheath clipped to the inside of my belt. With an untucked shirt no one notices. It is very useful and its size does not seem to intimidate anyone around here in Kansas.

The knife at the top is small, stout, tough, and sheeple friendly. It's a Bark River Mini-Canadian. Ergonomics are great too.

Can you be more specific with regards to the desired price range?

Also, what sort of tasks do you have in mind that require a workhorse that's sheeple-friendly? In my experience, when a worker shows up to do a job, I've never heard anyone complain about their tool choices. Just curious...

Lots of people carry fixed-blade knives around here. The knives are generally smaller, inconspicuous, and with classic natural handle materials. To wear something like a BK-9 in public would be considered ridiculous and pretentious....

I don't know if anyone makes this but a 2.5" Wharncliff with a brightly colored handle !

I would also recommend the Fallkniven F1.

Another blade that hasn't been mentioned but was just featured in blade magazine is the Benchmade rant (droppoint) with 440C steel. This looks like a sheeple-friendly good quality general use knife.

This is what I thought of, but I'm not sure what Moose1132 actually needs the knife for,

D2 steel. Well under $100. About 8" overall. One of the most popular blade shapes of all time. And about as far from an armyboy-wannabe / mall-ninja / Rambo-fantasy 'weapon' as you can get.

Bark River has quite a few smaller knives to choose from. Available in natural or synthetic materials. Keith has a couple posted above in his photo. I don't have any of their smaller knives, but I've been thrilled with every purchase from them. Beautiful and top quality, but a bit more expensive...

I've also seen (somewhere) the RAT knives with natural handles. I believe they still had the militaristic blade coatings though...
