Glockman,do you not worry about the small tang on the Temperance?
I have one coming at x-mas and had ordered it before I knew about about the tiny tang !

Do you have access to a link or a pic of the Temperance's "tiny tang"?

I need to see this as it's news to me.

Thanks in advance for any help you can render!

pit man,

Thanks for steering me to that thread.
The tang on the Temperance is more of a half tang and is plenty stout enough for the knife's mission as layed out by Sal:

The Temperance was designed for cutting and piercing. Not for hammering or prying.

Look at all of the survival experts who have nothing but praise for the Mora and have no problem recommending them. And the tang on that Mora in the x-ray is a partial tang that is approaching stub-tang status. I have several of these myself, and they handle whatever nasty chore I throw at them, like cutting roots for example.

I think we, as knife afficionados, are getting to the point where we even expect our steak knives to fill the ol' "end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it" survival scenario. This is not a poke at you, because I am as guilty of this mentality as everyone else.

As a side note, I made a file knife Bowie with a 10" blade that I have done chopping and wood whacking with and it is a partial-tang mounted on a stag carver handle. It's still a great go-to knife for clearing out the ever present suckers and head level tree limbs on my property. It's all good bro!
