Need a Streetbeat spineshot please

Hi folks,

I'm considering a Streetbeat. But since Australian customs seem to make a habit of snaffling knives that they could argue have a "false edge that could be sharpened" is there any kind soul who could post some spine shots of the Streetbeat, especially of the blade, so I can figure how likely it is that I could get it through customs ok without a permit (as freakin' ridiculous as that might sound to you guys).

Cheers:)

My computer has been acting strange today, or I'd take one an post it for you, but I can tell you that the narrowest portion of the swedge grind, aside from the extreme tip where it the primary bevel tapers it down to a point, is at least 1/32" wide. So it's thicker than the spine of the average kitchen knife. Of course with government employees, you never can be 100% sure, but it would take a very creative interpretation of the term "double edge" to consider the Street Beat to have one.

thanks for your reply Deacon. trust me man, they can be very 'creative' when the mood takes them. Up to and including regular Spyderco folders being seized on occasion because officer-of-the-day decides that he thinks it's a "flick-knife." With God's grace, I have been free of any customs issues, but I know guys here in Oz who have, over LEGAL knives that can be bought in bricks-and -mortar stores.

Sal, if you're reading this, if it is at all possible, could you or an authorized person at Spyderco please give us a statement to say that Spyderco folding knives(excluding actual automatics) are not "flick-knives" or "gravity-knives" or "assisted opening" or "automatic" - those patently false labels that certain customs people use to seize legal folding knives.

(I know there are a couple of autos, which are considered naughty in many places- but we don't get them here, and I'm not police or military. If we could, I'd make sure I had the relevant permit.)

over-zealous or 'loose' interpretation of law by customs needs to be stopped in its tracks.

If it could be organized, you would have the thanks and heart-felt appreciation of all Australian Spyderco enthusiasts.

I'll try to take some at home tonight for you, focusing on the blade from a few angles.

Hi all, I am new here. Well, been lurking for a while. I live in Sydney and I got the Street Beat yesterday mailed from the States. It's been opened and inspected by customs with no dramas. By the way, I paid $130US which I think was good value. You might be suprised initially about the size of the knife. However, I think it's on par with some of the custom stuff twice the price. I am considering to get another one. Man, this is costing me some money.
