Need a thin slicer

The Spyderco Centofante has the same thin blade. The vg10 is quite up to date steel. Not powder. But I think that its bad combination powder steel and a thin blade.
 
Spyderco Police or Military are good options that I didn't think of. I'm not sure how thin they are, but the full flat grind will make them SEEM pretty thin when slicing.

I currently only have one Manly knife and it is their fixed blade Patriot in the European equivalent of D2 steel. This reminds me that when looking for slicing ability both blade stock and the grind are equally important. I have had thick blades that were ground well that still slice, and relatively thin blades that are not ground that aggressively and as a result don't slice nearly as effectively as you would think given the stock that they are working with.

Yeah, the Atom and Neutron cut quite well compared to the typical modern folder, but in terms of geometry they're quite a bit more obtuse than an Opinel. I think that the industry as a whole might improve if most knife enthusiasts owned an Opinel, as they'd understand better what slicing performance actually means.

All anyone has to do is cut an apple into slices with their folding knife and they'll see that their adored PM2/Military/Police/etc aren't actually that great at passing through material. I say that as a big fan of the Military and Police 4.

I'd also add that the TRM line of knives aren't incredible in this regard either. While they use .080" thick stock, they still grind their knives to be quite thick at the edge. I believe my Atom was about .025" at the edge with a factory grind; for comparison, I have an Opinel #8 here that is sharpened to 15 dps and it's still about .005" thick at the edge, 5 times thinner than my Atom was. You absolutely feel that difference in use.

Unfortunately there is not a plethora of modern folders nowadays that offer thin blades and, crucially, thin edges, but the Manly Peak seems to fit most of your requirements better than what I'm seeing recommended here. They're available in D2, CPM-154, or S90V for quite a reasonable price, and they're ground to cut things. The model with a spyderco-like opening hole uses .120" stock, which isn't terribly thin, but the edge is like .008" thick sharpened to 15 dps and the tip is very thin. They also have a model called the Wasp which is a smaller slipjoint model with a similarly thin grind.

Upon seeing your request, it reminded me that the Peak has been tempting me, so I went and placed an order for one.

I'm totally with you on this.
Most of modern knives have thick edges.
Even slip joint knives do.
I've got Enigma slip joint and was seriously disappointed with its thick edge.
It could be a great slicer if ground thinner from the thin blade stock.

It is funny to me that only manufacturers making traditional knives like Opinel, GEC, and Case provide real pocket slicers.
(Manly Wasp was a pleasant exception for me).
 
I just carried a discontinued knife today which is a tremendous slicer with a 4 inch blade, the Cold Steel Hold Out 2. If one became available, that might be a consideration.
I ve been looking at CIVIVI Knives lately. The Shredder gets great reviews. The Governor would also be a good choice with PB washers. Both look like good slicers close to 4 inches
