Let me start by saying that they aren’t necessarily for sale. A friend is offering these to me at “whatever works for you, man”. So I want to make sure it’s a good fair price. However, if their value is beyond what they worth to me, then I might sell and pass the profit back to him.

Two S&M. The stockman is 4” or a little better. The whittler is a little guy. Both are nearly like new. Couple carry swirls. Don’t appear to have been sharpened. No boxes. Pull is a little on the stout side but not nail breakers. I’ll give them 7’s across the board. Tangs are stamped Queen steel, 93. And schatt and Morgan.

Thanks, in advance for value ranges, guys.

Oh. If you happen to know what blade steel they are, I would appreciate that. They are magnetic, but many of my stainless knives are just as magnetic.

They should be 420HC. Those are from the Keystone Series III of 1993. Without boxes they're worth between $60 and $70 each. I have noticed that since Queen closed their doors, prices on the big auction site have gone up, but not sure how much is selling at those raised prices.

I think they are 420. What's etched on the small blade? Are there dates or "keystone series" numbers on them?

Edit: Sorry Jeff. I went to the kitchen before finishing and hitting submit and didn't see your post.

Ahhhh...good ole Winterbottom Bone scales....some of the prettiest on the Annual Series...

Jeff is right on with the blades being 420..for those not familiar with Schatt&Morgan take a quick look at the tang where it says Q Steel, Queen’s way of saying stainless plus S&M’s always were in 420 with the exception of the File&Wire Series...changes to steel didn’t occur until the last few years.

As far as realistic value couldn’t agree more with Jeff...

Thanks, everyone!

If the value discussion is out of place, I’m terribly sorry. I just wanted to make sure I didn’t short my buddy on their value.

Values can be discussed by Gold members.
From "the rules" that were mentioned: Even though this paragraph contradicts itself. It's all we have..

Per the rules of the exchange and in furtherance of curtailing potential abuse of membership privileges associated with the forums, questions regarding valuation of knives and collections are limited to those with a membership level which permits selling on this site. Accordingly, registered and basic members may not start or post in threads with such requests whether with the intent to sell or for informational purposes only. Even with that caveat, the Traditional forum is probably not the proper venue for such questions and such threads may be moved to a more appropriate area of the site.

Using just the rules, we can destroy the spirit of this forum, IMO.
I personally don't like talking about pricing. Next thing you know we will waste our time talking about "how much profit I made on that last deal"!!!
Not interesting at all!!
I hang out here to discuss the knives, their history, their goodness!

Gold members can ask questions of valuation. Even in Traditional.
Questions about "where to buy" and "how do I get in line at XX site for a GEC" are typically moved to a different forum.

Well I will stick with the spirit of the rule regardless!

Even with that caveat, the Traditional forum is probably not the proper venue for such questions and such threads may be moved to a more appropriate area of the site.

What about all the SFO threads started by dealers...? Lol
Ha ha! Guilty as charged!
But I try to keep them interesting and educational, bringing in the pattern origins and comparisons. And I stay away from the prices and other commerce as much as possible. If they are ever generally considered offensive, I would certainly take them down!!
