Hi Guys,

Looking to pull the trigger on my first BM, after a lot of research, I think they have what Im looking for.
Ive narrowed it down to the 909 Axis Stryker, and the 950 Rift,,
I know either way I'll get an amazing knife, but wanted some feedback.
Seems like there is a TON of love and reviews for the 950,, not as much for the Axis Stryker,, is that my answer right there?
Thanks for any help and thoughts!

I much prefer the 909, the 950 is too wide(tall?) a carry for my hand size. Love the Rift blade shape tho, can't wait for the 940-1!

The Axis Stryker only came out earlier this year; the Rift has been around a while longer. That's why you're finding more reviews for the Rift than the Stryker.

Agreed, thanks! I didn't know it was discontinued, maybe a reason to get one?

That makes sense, thanks! I was originally considering the contego, but I think its just a hair bit large for an everyday EDC.
Appreciate the advice!

Are you sure the Rift was discontinued? Just checked BM website and they have it listed for sale with current models.

I think there's probably more reviews for the rift besides beening around longer more people buy it cause it has a more economical blade shape than the 909. I like tanto's but not as much as the blade shape the rift has. If you plan to skin animals or food prep tanto make the process harder though still workable. Plus the rift is cheaper. Either would be great but i'd go with the rift.

I emailed Benchmade about this and was told this isn't true and that the 950 is a very popular model.

Sorry. My bad. I should've checked better.

It's certainly available for sale with both solid black G-10 and the original black/gray G-10.

I do love the tanto on the Stryker,, but from what I've seen, the reverse tanto on the 950 also has very good penetration ability and tip strength.
Think I'm going for the Rift , thanks so much for the advice guys, very happy to have joined the forum!

FYI: I'm selling a 950 in the exchange. :)

Not sure what steel the Stryker is off hand but I do love the reverse tanto point of Warren Osborne's design.

What style blade and color of handle/blade?

If you can afford it get the CF handle and Damascus Blade Gold Class.

I would get the original plain satin edge with black/charcoal handle.

Black blade can scratch and serrations suck to sharpen, but YMMV

There is a local shop that last time I was in, had one of the M4/CF 950 forum ones...was so tempted lol!

I carried my 950 yesterday once I got home and changed into jeans. I generally carry a 940. I really dig the 940's compactness especially for work (office) in khakis. However, the Rift carries really well for how big it is. It's actually a pretty slim knife to be so big. I'm probably gonna keep mine but I also kinda want to try a Contego.

They are both good knives- pick the one that you like best. For my uses the Stryker blade shape is better, and actually my older 913 Stryker is my favorite knife.
