If you get the Rift, prepare yourself to purchase either a 940, a Contego, or both.
Benchmade took the common production tanto, which has some advantages but quite a few disadvantages, and changed it up to make a blade that is incredibly well-suited to virtually any and every situation (and it's a very cosmetically pleasing look, which is always a plus.)
I think the original multi-colored G10 model is an awesome looking knife, and with an incredible handle and grippy textured G10, in a steel which is excellent and easy to upkeep. It's a decent size profile, but reasonably slim for a knife of its size and so it carries very well.
If you are somewhere in which you can get to a BM dealer, as others noted I think the 940 is worth checking out. It's an awesome knife for daily usage with a slightly smaller profile but full-sized performance.
It's prolly worth noting that I do find my Rift to be a little hard on pants as the textured G10 is very grippy (but not sharp...just a lot of surface area.) It's thinner slacks where I find this to be an issue more than normal pants. I think BM may have used smoother aluminum on models like the 940 for things like suit carry possibly for this purpose?
