Need advice on Blast Media....
Finally got my Blast Cabinet reset and three things I need to acomplish:
... Good grippy texture for G10 and Micarta handles
... Nice Bead Blast finish on ATS34 maybe peened
... Good grippy surface for coating Carbon steel blades with DuraCoat or Ceracoat

Before I buy the wrong thing again:confused: Can someone point me to the right Grit/Media/Mfg/Source?

I think Double Cut of Busse and Swanp Rat is a good approach for blasting the hard surface of Heat Treated Blade.

The Principle of Double Cut and how I found it works is to Sand blast with Aluminum Oxide or Silicon Carbide which is hard and also sharp enough to make dents on the harden surface.
After this process you will have the surface that look darkish, it is find if you are happy with the darkish look nut if you want it is more shiny then you use Glass Bead # 9 -10 to refinishing the surface again then the surface is now more shiny. The reason behind this is Glass bead is round (Aluminum Oxide is free form) and the dents created by this media is also round. The round dent is more reflective than angle dent.

It is important that you cannot use Round Glass Bead to create dent on the harden surface.

Sand is cheap and you can get it almost anyplace. however it is very dusty and brakes down much faster. Also it doesn't cut near as fast at AO and sand collect moisture faster.
