Thanks again to everybody, I have learned a very valuable lesson in regards to knives and stuff in general with this thread.

The ka-bar was my dream knife when I was a kid that didnt know (and didn't care) squat about money and prices and steels.

Also, so much searching and decission making between knives that cost a crapload of $$$ for me right now gave me some moderate anxiety and I started worrying for something I dindt even owned or spent money on. I know now this wasa dumb thing to do, very dumb, to get caught in the consumerist whirlwind, but as I say this has been clarifying to me.

Thus I rejected all the brands and makers of all those fancy knives (which I still think are beautiful, just not for me, really) and acting true to my inner kid I bought a ka-bar for my enjoyment, a true user and good one at that, since I feel comfortable cutting and experimenting with a 60$ knife, even if it is somewhat pretty.

So I guess the lesson for me has been to not to worry for stuff I dont even own and that I dont even have to spend money on.

Thanks everyone.

BTW, I still like those Busses ...

Spartan makes a great knife I'd buy 1 in a second if I had the cash, I do have busse's , swamprats, and scrapyard knives and they are all well built tanks. But Spartan blades are not only beautiful IMO but tough as nails.

The Treeman LRRP is a far superior knife in my opinion compared to the Busse. Jim Behring and Rocco hand make some of the best fixed blade knives on the planet. For the money, around $400, you can't beat them. Just look up the video of a guy trying to destroy one by repeatedly stabbing and trying to cut a 50 gallon steel drum. It barely dented the point and did no damage to the blade. Plus they have a lifetime warranty and will repair or send you a new knife if it ever fails. Plus those 2 guys are some of the nicest people I've met in the custom knife world. I'll take a Treeman over any other fixed blade any day!

in terms of toughness for the $, 1095 crovan is very much at the top of the heap... esp if you like any of the kabar on 'extreme' sale direct right now... I'm thinking of one myself, should be a super low-cost machete/bush knife

I really hope that after 4 years they would have found the knife they wanted...

Hey sorry!! I just Google searched Treeman knives, and I happen to own the LRRP and my cousin has a TASS and they are great knives!! I didn't pay any attention to the date of the thread and was just trying to recommend a good, high end fixed blade knife for somebody who was asking. Excuse me for missing the date of the thread!! If all you have to do is monitor the date something is posted, I would suggest getting a new hobby. Maybe go out in your shop and work on some of your knives, buy a new one, test them out for what they were made for, or troll this forum for people who post on threads that are a few years old. Whatever floats your boat dude.

Are the knives the op listed still in the 300-400 dollar price range or have they exceeded that since this thread started back in 2014?

I know the Treeman LRRP is still $400. And it comes with a very high end kydex sheath. I use mine almost daily, and Jim Behring 100% guarantees everything for lifetime. When I was talking to him and Rocco at BLADE show 2018 they both told me mine was ready to be re-coated. I called Rocco the next week and he said to send a check for $7 bucks to cover the shipping and handling. They are even putting the camo slash pattern, a step up from my basic black Creakote, for free.

Then they should delete the old threads they think are irrelevant. Not my problem. I don't look at the dates.

The issue with a topic like this one is that knife models change so frequently nowadays. In the last four years some knives that were hot when this thread started are no longer made; and other knives that should be considered have hit the market. So it actually is to your advantage to start a new thread.

The mods don't have time to go around closing every thread when it is done. But, I'll stop and close this one.
