I am working a knife for myself to take fishing, I have the design the way i want it. The blade will be tang through stainless but i want to have a hard plastic or similar material for the handle (i.e. something that will stand up to submersion from wade fishing). Any ideas? Thanks in advance

You might try some Margarita Green G-11, I happen to know someone with a bunch. :D

Black paper, linen or canvas micarta will all work well for a fish knife. Canvas is the most grippy and paper the smoothest. Canvas and linen have obvious patterns, paper doesn't.

ide use wood at least if you drop it it will float most fileting knives had wood handles.
