Need advice on lightweight EDC

I would deviate a bit and go with the Benchmade Bugout. It’s a wonderful knife. You can get the Grivory handled one for under $200 and if you love it, you could buy aftermarket ti scales for it. Slices well and a small footprint in the pocket. 20CV steel or S30V, both great.
Blade length is 3.25”

A lot of great suggestions so far here. :)

Thinness comparable to the SOG Ultra is hard, since it requires a relatively tall blade (so the height of the handle can compensate for the lack of thickness), as well as a lock that doesn't add thickness. The Mini Bugout is 0.42" thick, and I've never thought of it as a "thick" knife. The Boker Petite Urban Trapper is 0.36" thick and weighs a tick over 1oz for a 2.75" blade; the cocobolo scaled version is under $100 at BHQ, so should be within your budget even at Canada prices.

Sounds like a Spyderco Ikuchi might be a good option. Thin, light, unobtrusive, I think they are $140 USD. Just make sure you get the CQI version. Also, the Civivi Mckenna and Exarch are thin and light.

The CQI Ikuchi has been on and off my list (I had an early version, but it had issues hence why I suggest the updated CQI version) but for the time being, something else has snagged my interest. I like thin and light blades as a whole, or just light in general. Canada is always an issue, you never know what customs will let through.

Any one of these seem to fit the bill

Update: Thanks so much for all the responses! I think I am going to go with the Spyderco Chaparral FRN (if I can find it in stock anywhere). I'll update again once I've purchased to let you know my thoughts.

You made up your mind already? I just got here! These threads are supposed to go on for days! :D

Kidding aside, I bet you're gonna love your Spyderco Chaparral. Best of luck with it, and come back and let us know how it all worked out.

To The Guy Who Posted The Bugout With The Titanium Scales: That knife haunts my dreams like the girl in high school who was, and will always be, a mystery. I'm a troubled man. Johnny Cash could have written a song about me. But I digress.
