Need advice!! Performance on extended camping trip

Ooohhh, TENTEX...
That is One SWEET DUO Set-Up You have there...!!!
If my proportions of perceptions are accurate -- and they usually are --
That is definitely a Force Multiplier with a 14 inch blade, SO that 460 Magnum must have a full 7 inch barrel?
I thought those were only made in 6s & 8s, yet this sure looks like precisely Half the FM14 Blade Length...
Am I calculating that right?
Or just daydreaming?
I've been known to do both.
On the same day.

Although I'm not sure if I'd prove an expert on skinning a game animal or gutting a fish with a 14 inch double edged piercing blade; but I'm not one to complain, if you put it in my hand on an 18 month woods-walk and said, Here; will ya gut that thing for me...?
No, not complaining here, not me. 🗡️ Nuh-uh...

The OP also started threads in other sub-forums. Hoping he comes back here to answer some or our questions.

No WiFi on the extended camping trip

Close. 460 with standard 8 3/8” barrel

Thanks, TENTEX...!
Tuf to measure items in a pic; but I do try...
It is SWEET, at any length.
I Can Imagine Very Accurate as Well...

So, here is a cold weather tip for your favorite knife.

Bike tire material.

It's a pain in the ass to get on, and will change your handle thickness. But It will make the knife not painful to handle anymore.
Ahhhh... thanks for the idea! I bet that would help with insulating you from the steel of the handle.

Just had a thought...so, after waiting for the smoke to clear... 😅 ...I thought I'd ask here:
Has anyone tried adhesive vet/horse wrap on their handles? 🤔

I've used Skate boarder tape: the high friction stuff, for a few fighting knives & their practice models, to obtain the same feel, and because they were a bit slick of feel to begin with. The high friction texture sure helps -- quite a Lot! That surface feels like it has got ahold of You as it's a bit of a bite. Not uncomfortable, just a Really Secure Grip. I highly recommend putting a small strip along the sides of a slick-handled knife to keep a secure knife retention in the hand during use -- even, or especially, waving the thing around in the air simulating close quarter combat, sparring, role-playing, stage combat, etc. There's nothing quite like the feeling of having a knife S L I P out of one's hands while attempting a maneuver, especially when other peeps are in the vicinity:
O O P S ... in perceptual slow motion is Never A Good Thing...!

PICS UP...

Here's how my SHE-2 and Shrike are currently set-up on my 72hr+ bag...

My HOGB8 gets rotated in about 50% of the time (Love 'em equally, so they both get turns on ride-alongs)

you can steel infi with sr101 easily.
It never once occurred to me to try and steel my busskin with the spine of another in the woods. This is a fantastic idea.. if you had a setup like the one Scoma put up (ar with a scrapivore) you'd be set for pretty much any sized task and you can generally keep it sharp. Wow.. I'm for sure trying this with my ar scrapivore combo (thanks Scoma for the idea btw 😊 and thank you for the honing idea)

Stump Buster: SWEET SETUP, Busse Bro~ !!!

You only need to make One Slight Improvement:
Strap & Take BOTH Your HOG B-8 AND SHE-2,
So You Can Hone Each While Out There With the Spine of the Other.
Is that How Busse Blades say to each Other: If You Scratch My Back, I'll Scratch Yours?? ⚔️
Hmm, I gotta Go Think about that...

I think I've read every post on this thread since the OP, and I don't think anyone has Yet to tout the merits of the Chophouse... I may have missed someone saying it; and if so, it doesn't hurt to add to the endorsement.
So, the Chophouse: It rivals or perhaps EXCEEDS the chopping abilities of the standard Battle Mistress.
Horrors! Did he put that in Print!?!?
Of course, I don't know if the Battle Mistress even exists in "standard" form anymore;
For it seems to be only found in various variants, alterations, improvements, enhancements, emendations, and so forth.
But, my personal experience with two BMs has given me some limited time with chopping wood with them.
Yes, those two were, in fact, "standard."
The recoil on Hard Wood is greatly minimized from those experiences, compared to the Chophouse with its uber-comfy -- but Not too soft -- Resiprene-C Tan handle.
Yes, I'm also sure that its Tan Color helps Tremendously, coupled with its Hammered Silver Krinkle-Coated Finish: That's My Story and I'm sticking to it.
I cannot lose it as easily around the chopping block, stuck in the middle of several piles of unchopped wood, as my black Handled knives, or especially my black-Bladed, plus black-Handled knives. They go astray Far Easier, I have Learned...
Now I know what Y'all are going to say, B'cuz Everyone is Saying it these days, But I just don't buy it:
"But Climber: Don't You Know, that: ~ Black Knives Matter ~ ??"
Nope, call me dwelling outside that box...
On That Note: I re-wrapped all my paracord-wrapped sheaths for shelter-making in Green, either OD Green, or Digital Camo Green, instead of Black, too; Although peeps keep hampering me with jeers of:
"But Climber, Don't You Know, that ~ Black Lines Matter ~ ??"
But I do digress...
The Tan Creation Referred to moments earlier before I showed my political hand, works QUITE WELL in the Kitchen, chopping vegetables & meats on the cutting board as well as ANY Butcher or Chef's knife in my vicinity; its DROP-EDGED BLADE gets that EDGE BELOW my Fingers, plus it HAS NO GUARD to get in the Way when chopping on aforesaid cutting board! The Entirety of its cutting edge can remain in contact with the board upon completion of each cut, instead of fighting a guard to hamper that crucial contact.
This is a BOON in my Book!
So, MY Particular Tanned Gal of a Blade has been Re-Named for fulfilling All my purposes, to reflect her Versatile Nature, to The House Mistress... Mmm, wish you could see her now. I Crafted her New Clothes; in her Kydex Sheathing, with a small Bug-Out Pack of her own, laced onto her lower torso, with a Dual-Grit Diamond Sharpener of 400g/600g, a Ceramic Triangular Sharpener at 1500g, and a Firestarter Ferrocerium Rod. My Kydex fits so well that she can ride inverted, without fallout, even if I shake her with all my climbing might. She's Good To Go. (Or rather stay in place, sheathed securely.)
In Any Event, I would Not Hesitate to take her to the Woods for an EXTENDED "Camping Trip" as you might call it. Her Saber Grind Wedges Wood Well before the Spine is reached (I for one thoroughly enjoy it when My House Mistress Wedges Well On My Wood), and the Weight Distribution of her Fully Quarter Inch Thickness above the Grind is Amply Proportioned with a Hump Precisely Placed ON TOP of The SWEET SPOT of Chopping. I've noticed in MY Own Experience, that a Saber Grind makes a more Obtuse Angle for Wedging the Wood apart Faster, Cleaner, and with less "Stuck Blades" than a full flat grind. It also allows for a literal wiggle room since the blade flat above the grind and below the spine is Not in contact with the wood, so less friction is developed, and freeing the blade during those times of deep cuts, from chopping OR batoning, is much easier to negotiate.
So, all said, in comparison to the "Standard" Battle Mistress -- which of course, none of You have, they're all Enhanced Variants, it seems -- the House Mistress, or Garden Variety Chophouse,
Truly Takes It To The House. . .
In Any Case, WHY would you leave Any Busse knife or bush-craft tool, or chopping implement at home, when you're not planning on frequenting the place within the next 18 full months of your life?
