Not sure if this solicitation will work here as this thread appears to be quite inactive. Anyhow, I have a new knife design and would like to have 1000 knives made so I can sell them to the target market. Is there an exceptional oem maker in the USA that would like to take this on? When I approached the big name knife companies, of course you get the standard answer, patent it and protect the design before you show it to us, and since we are not well known in the knife making world establishing a working relationship with the big names has been a challenge, so we will decided to go it alone, and start up our own brand. Initial run is for 1000 knives, if sales go as expected we will need an additional 10K quickly. Looking forward to finding the right OEM in the USA.

This forum isn't super active but there are a lot of posts you don't see as posts like yours are only visible to members with a knife maker's membership.
That being said, I doubt you will get any knife companies here in the USA to take this on... you could try some of the chinese companies to contract it though, or attempt approaching the knife companies as you've done I just doubt it will go anywhere.
It would also help if you posted if it was a fixed blade or folder as that makes a big difference in how complicated the process will be.

Thanks for the replies gents. Its a fixed blade, serrated edge, complex pommel, so will likely need forging capacity or cnc milling. Won't go the china route at all. Have been looking into the Japan makers. Anyone know who the maker is for Katz knives in Japan? That kind of quality is what I am after.
