Need Concealed Carry Advise - A HARD one!!

Amazingly enough, I have been to THREE CKG shows and we STILL haven't met! Maybe in two weeks at the next show...

Perhaps you need a PHANTOM KNIVES (your silent partner). RIP CORD knives "The Fastest Deploying Knife" ...It features a patended , legal , one-handed , instant opening mechanism that provides a life-saving blade in a fraction of a second. They have G-10 scales.Yes I know I'm quoting their ad.

Take a look at Mike Janich's book, Street Steel. It's crammed with carry options and ideas.

One thing to think about - maybe avoid a carry option that depends upon a particular jacket. Will you always be wearing that jacket? Suppose you need the knife when the jacket is on the back of a chair. What if you are grabbed around from the rear, preventing access to the knife? What if the jacket is pulled up around you?

Try to adopt a carry option that works with your style of dress and is accessible for pretty much every situation you might find yourself in. Most times, things happen when a person is not ready and is in a somewhat compromised position. It can be sudden and very physical.

As far as I know, the max concealable length here in CO is 3.5 inches. I think that applies both to FBs and to folders. However, I have heard that you can't carry any knife concealed downtown. Only heard that once, though. I'd see if I could ask a cop, were I you, and see what he says.

If you're not averse to carrying a handgun, there's a certain county (I cannot remember the name  ) where the sheriff does shall-issue CCWs. Probably easier (and more legal, for some reason) than carrying a potentially illegal knife concealed.

Yikes guys!
"OHHH fixed blade, bad idea!!"
Or should I say,
"Baaaaahhhh-d idea" :barf:

How many never bothered to find out if it was an option before immediately saying "oh no, dont do that!"

I'd almost think I was on anti-bladeforums.com.

Okay... how about an Emerson La Griffe in a custom sheath?
Its light weight, short blade, but utterly deadly... shouldnt be too hard to attach it to your jacket, with the factory sheath, could be sewn in, or a custom one made to fasten on.

As far as I can tell, no one was flaming, just telling him to be careful.

A very brief (i.e. not thorough) search turned up the following:

Colorado Criminal Code (Title 18)

18-12-105. Unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon - unlawful possession of weapons.
(1) A person commits a class 2 misdemeanor if such person knowingly and unlawfully:
(a) Carries a knife concealed on or about his or her person; or

18-12-101. Definitions.
(f) "Knife" means any dagger, dirk, knife, or stiletto with a blade over three and one-half inches in length, or any other dangerous instrument capable of inflicting cutting, stabbing, or tearing wounds, but does not include a hunting or fishing knife carried for sports use. The issue that a knife is a hunting or fishing knife must be raised as an affirmative defense.
