I'm not anywheres near finished. Nothing is assembled , I just have everything sitting together, I know I have a long ways to go but I'd like a bit of critique before I go further. Don't hold back. I've never really made a knife guard and I'm not sure how big it should be. I just made this one out of a block of scrap brass.

Cheers

Think about how comfortable your hand and finger will be when using a knife. Let this guide the shape. In the case of this knife, a flat disc without the curve at the bottom might be a better choice. Adding some color in the form of G10 or even flat plastic will do wonders for a knife. One of my personal favorites is Brunswick bowling ball sections. The colors are very strong and the material can be had by stopping by the local bowling alley. Most will give them to you for free if there damaged or chipped.

The best advice I was ever given as to knife design is "form follows function" you cannot go wrong with this approach.

Enjoy the process was the second piece of advice worth giving, Fred
