Ok guys here is a new one im working on I plan on using this one while I wade fish.
I ground this on an old piece of steel just to work out the design. Here is what im going after, the blade will be flat ground, it is tipless for 2 reasons, one is i will be resheathing it usually one handed and without looking at the sheath. second reason is I would like to make a small slot perpendicular to the blade on the end to use a hook remover. Im also thinking about cutting a small notch on the spine almost like a gut hook but way smaller, this would be to quickly cut fishing line using only one hand. For the handle I would like to use neoprene but i have never worked with it so I dont know anything about it. The final knife would be ATS 34.
Please throw any ideas you may have.

BTW If I have offended anyone since I have been a member please accept my apologies, I was made aware that I may have upset someone. This is a great place for noobs like me to learn from guys who really know the trade and I realize what a privilege that is, you have my thanks.

Foxbat34, another noob here so probably not much help other than to say ask RichardJ about using neoprene. I know he has used it on some of his knives.

For the line cutter I have drilled a 1/4" hole and cut a diagnal slot to the hole to form a gut hook without the sharp edge. You can then file the bevel and sharpen using a 1/4 dia stone.

Why didnt you carry the plunge up farther on the blade, this will reduce the edge angle and give you a better slicer, which I think will work best for fishing. I would rethink the blunt tip, tough to clean a fish without a tip. A drop point design is pretty easy to resheath and you can make a false tip like you plan for a hook remover. Just blunt the tip a little (less than 1/4) and then cut your slot so you have a hook remover above the sharp tip. You can let the tip extend past the other side of the hook remover.

thanks for your ideas. The grind wasnt finished i have since carried the plunge all the way up making a full flat grind. I wont be cleaning fish with this knife though, I forgot to put that in my post, it will just be a utility knife.
I really like your idea about the line cutter and tip.
thanks again
