Need desktop advice

Given the sheer number of servers and business computers that Lenovo offers, I think it's a safe bet that they use standard PSUs and motherboards.
While it might have standardized components, I don't follow that logic. I've seen non-standard, proprietary, and goofy stuff on practically every brand of computer including Apple, IBM, Dell, Packard Bell... and trust me those guys all made plenty of business computers and servers over the years.

Dell was famous for using power supplies with non-standard pin outs. Dell uses a lot of custom air vents and exhaust hoods in their computers too, making it difficult to replace their motherboard with another. I had an IBM with a slot on the motherboard for adding a graphic card, although you couldn't actually fit one in the case. I've got a Packard-Bell upstairs that needs more memory, but it can't be upgraded because it's some bizarre and non-standard memory format. I think it's eMachines, and maybe other brands too, that I've seen recently with non-standard front panel connectors.

Mea Culpa and lesson learned. I just dug up the hardware manual online and the PSU uses a non-ATX 14 pin connector and the MB has no spare SATA connectors. I found a 24 pin to 14 pin adaptor, so I may purchase that as a precaution. I'll see if I can't dig up a PCI X1 board that alows me to continue to use my old IDE interface hard drive as a backup drive.

I recently upgraded to a Microsoft Surface Pro 2. I have it docked and connected to a monitor, keyboard, mouse, external hard drive, speakers, and I have a USB 3.0 hub, external optical drive, and all-in-one card reader incoming. It got a little pricey, but it's a nice setup that I recommend.
