Need digital camera suggestions - lightweight, but good quality

When it comes to point and shoot..... (Yes, a G9 counts) Canon, Canon and oh yes...Canon. SLR? This is where I feel Canons are a wee bit over rated. :D



My personal favorite SLR presently is the Sony A700. I bought a A200 to become more familiar with the Sony family and have not been disappointed. Several friends work for Wolf Camera and I have had the chance to extensively use their personal SLRs and for the price and features...Sony is hard to beat.
 
I got the Canon A710 to take hiking. 7.1MP with IS.

Beats lugging the SLR and takes good pictures.
 
the biggest incentive for me to use Canon is ability to shoot RAW - and yes the lil' powershots can shoot RAW. :thumbup:
