need discreet/unseen carry options

In summation, you felt safe w/ a phat bob folder. Now you can't carry it, but want something else to "feel safe". Hammers are ineffective compared to phat bob folders when gunmen are involved. You want us to give you good advice for a bad decision, and we are not very helpful.

Try posting in practical tactical.

That was beautiful. A Grandpappy would take our friend to the woodshed, would he?

If I got fired from a job for something as dumb as getting fired for carrying a knife I was told not to?

Yeah, he would. Then my dad would have a go at it!

Gotta keep things in perspective.

Carl.

I had almost the same problem... I made a penis rig and hung a RC-6 upside down. Just looked like I was well hung.

god i wish i could close this fucking thread....Its such bs you ask a serious question and get a real response only 1 out of 5 posts. Thanks to those of you who actually added something to this conversation.

I gave you an alternate way to carry a knife on page one of this thread. If that suggestion or any suggestions made by the other guys won't work for you the best solution for you is to quit your job. If you don't want to quit your job then the second best option is to follow the pollicies of the company you work for.

In the thread you referenced you said your boss gave you the option to carry a multi-tool. What's wrong with a Leatherman Super tool with locking blades or a Leatherman Wave with locking blades?

There's not much you can do with say a Spyderco Military that you can't do with the Leathermans.

Children,

Either help the poster out or do not post.

I see at least one person in this thread who should have learned that by now.

Let's see if we can get this straight. Trolling these forums and poking posters is going to stop one way or another. Which way is your choice.

Carry a multi tool. What's the point of carrying a folder if the first time you pull it out to cut something, you get fired? Are you really concerned about being attacked in a nursing home?

... but seriously maybe look into using one of those elastic arm bands used to hold an iPod when jogging, to carry your hest inverted between your arm an body.

Seriously - quit that lame job and get something better - McDonalds, etc. would be a step up or so it sounds to me.

If you insist on working for people that are obviously looking for an excuse to fire you and possibly have you arrested, then an Izula should be relatively easy to conceal. Waistband might be a good place. Get a pink or other non-aggressively colored one so maybe the police will go a bit easier on you.

Better still might be a thin profile folder (think another poster mentioned something similar) like a KaBar Folding Hunter. Obviously, don't clip it to your pants but maybe you can use it like a money clip (I do) and get by with that.

IWB is the way to go here. But you say you have to tuck in your shirt?
Also a harness for the inside of your legs--although it will be hard to access it if need be.

IWB can show the clip if someone is really looking. A dark clip and a belt helps a lot but is still visible. I carry mime at the 1 o clock position and I think people look there a little less since its basically you crotch. I'm sure some will think I'm crazy but when I really want to go concealed I carry in the same spot but clipped to my underwear. Then there is no way anyone can see it unless you get a pat down. Even then I bet it will go unnoticed most of the time. If you have a folder at least give it a try to see how it feels. If you sweat a lot it will be close to your skin so I would recommend a Spyderco Salt1 serrated edge in yellow because its impossible for it to rust from water and salt alone. The yellow is less threatening and I normally don't like serrations but the serrated H1 holds an edge quite a bit better than the plain edge since it is work hardening.

WOW! they must pay really well, because if I were being singled out like that I would start looking for another job. That being said, have looked at the Boker subcom knives, I can carry this knife concealed in the waistband of my under wear unnoticed until it is needed. It has been my experience during searches that this area of the anatomy is often skimmed over during a pat down. If you are wanded then you can explain that is was a metal or your belt buckle that set it off. I have carried larger knives this way as well. My delica, my paramilitary w/ STR deep carry clip and the Boker subcom have all been carried this way. The Subcom carries the easiest. Another way that I carried knives unnoticed is to essentially carry in plain sight, I use smaller knives as money clips and fold the money around the knife. This way when asked to dump your pockets it simply looks like a wad of cash. Unfortunately when they made you sign that paper, they pretty much did you in, because now they don't even need to charge you with carrying a weapon to fire you, they can simply say that you violated that paperwork. It is a tactic that the miltary uses to make seeming legal activity illegal.

Yeh and out to get me is putting it lightly. Its pretty much I have to follow rules others can break or aren't subject to and this knife restriction (they wont tell me the facts) was handed down as a potential safety hazard but the more I let it stew over the last week the more I believe it was just a way of ruining my day. So I have excepted the consequents but I also im not going to be "openly" defiant so thus my need for a concealed carry. Are those wallet things any good? Will they stand up to alot of punishment. I want to carry the hest since it can be put through alot more than just cutting tape and larboard (I work in maintenance and do everything from technical, to landscaping, to finish work) and I need something that holds and edge and wont snap on me if I need to use it for something other that cutting.

The swiss card is a good setup and i have one in my wallet but for what you seem to need, it probably wont pass muster. The hest is a good knife but for concealment, not ideal. If i were you i would do one of a few things. I.W.B carry would be good, youve seen the str clips and should you go for a folder, thats a good option. Some thing i might try if you want even more concealment than IWB, ive sewed loops into the waistband of some of my pants and clipped them to that so nothing is visible. You could probably manage something like that with a fixed blade and a little bit of imagination. one other option if you are allowed to carry a leatherman/ multitool is to buy a charge or wave etc. The former sports a s30v blade and the ladder 154cm. The blades in my experience are plenty fine for utility. Anyways, good luck and sorry about your predicament, but do us a favor and dont get yourself arrested.
