HEEEEY, I just got done hatin on Spyderco in the good ol benchmade vs spyderco thread and that got me thinking that I need to buy one again. I kinda like the Delica but would like it in something other than the plastic handle. What else is out there?

Need: Different knife with same blade or the name of other Delica models with other handle materials. Thanks.

Hey ****head. Delica scales are made from FRN (fiberglass reinforced nylon) not plastic. BTW Spyderco is a hell of a lot better than benchmade.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAand we have ANOTHER dumbass,

I never had any interest in a Delica. So I havent cared about what its made out of. What ever it is, it sure does look like cheap plastic that should be on a childrens play knife and I dont want that. I'm just looking for names or model numbers of certain Delicas that have been released in the past. I'd like to buy one. ... then I'm gonna smash it into little bits and pieces.

just kidding. I really want one. Some of you are pretty immature. I never said that Spyderco was a bad knife, and I want one so...?? Benchmade people dont start calling people names evertime someone says they think the axis lock is junk.

The nylon in FRN is a plastic, but so are the resins used to make G-10, CF and Micarta. For that matter, even stablized wood products like Dymondwood and Pakawood contain a fair amount of plastic.

As for the OP's question. You could hunt around. Spyderco made a CF Delica about 15 years ago, a G-10 version a few years back, and bolstered versions with bone scales more recently. Keep an eye on the Exchange Forum here and eBay, they all show up occasionally.

You will find a way to express your opinions without name-calling. If you can't, I would recommend not posting.

They Caly 3 is similar to the Delica- similar in size and both with a back lock- with the addition of a choil, ZDP-189, carbon fiber scales, and a deep carry clip. I'd recommend giving it a try. I did a Google image search for a size comparison:

What is that top knife?

80 bucks at Knife Center and you've got yourself a stainless handled Delica. In stock now. Not ffg though. Personally I've been looking for the carbon handle model...;)

To the OP, just mosey on over to the Spyderco website and do some homework. You'll find that they make many many different variations of knives around the leaf-shaped blade design.

IMO, if you really wanna have a fun Spyderco blade then get a Paramilitary 2 or a Manix 2.

Oh I've sifted through their site way too many times. I am more curious about out of production stuff. I did find an FRN handle that I REALLY like today. Unfortunately the blade only comes in black and serrated. No and no. Has anyone ever replaced a black sabre blade with an uncoated blade (preferably FFG)??? I'm really liking the idea of doing that if it's possible. This knife handle is suuhhexy!

For 2013, they've intro'd a FFG w/black handle to round out all of the other colors of the rainbow that have been done. :)

That's the standard delica handle. All delica 4 frn models have that handle in various colors. First you say you can't stand the standard delica handle then you post a pic of a standard delica and say you love the handle, just not the blade and would like that handle with a plain edge uncoated ffg blade. They have that one, it's the delica 4 ffg.

If you really want to step it up a notch though there is a titanium handles vg10 damascus bladed delica out there, it's quite a bit more expensive than the frn version though.

the best delica is a green FRN-handled one with a zdp 189 blade. sharpened and maintained right, it will out-slice any spyderco below 3 1/2" blade length, including the standard paramilitary. and for that matter, it will out-slice any 3-inch bladed benchmade.
