I'm looking to get my first fixed blade! I'm bored with my ever changing collection of floders which has now severely diminished. I want a good general use fixed blade, nothing too big or fancy. I'd prefer something with a multi-position carry kydex sheath, or even a cool neck knife. I've looked at what Benchmade and Spyderco have to offer. The Spyderco Moran is nice, but I'm not thrilled with anything by either company. So far I think my favorite is the Dozier Arkansas Toothpick, but I'd like some more choices as I'm not familiar with many fixed blades. Thanks! :)

My next purchases are going to be the Benchmade 210 Activator and a Greco Companion. Dozier is on my list but further down.

You didn't like the Nimravus cub by Benchmade? I think that looks like a snazzy little fixed blade.

I posted a similar thread the other day, someone recommended the Spyderco Snody/Ronin which is an interesting knife.

Have you thought about a neck knife? Some folks have been talking about the Becker Necker which is fairly inexpensive.

I'm kind of new to the knife world in general, so I'm kind of just spitting back stuff that I've observed from reading :) Sorry I can't give you any info from first hand experience

That knife you are looking at, the Dozier Arkansas Toothpick, looks like a solid knife, but a little expensive for my taste. I do like the shoulder harness option however, that is nice. Take care.

I have a Becker Necker, which I neck-carry when biking. Good blade grind, good coated carbon steel blade, nice sheath and good for concealment for neck-carry. You'll need a Tek-Lok for belt-carry. Downside for EDC use is the short 3-finger handle length.

Of those knives shipping today, the Ronin looks most suitable for both neck-carry and belt-carry.

I'm signed up for the Ronin pass-around, but I'm well down on the list, so it'll be a while before I get my hands on the Ronin.

Hope this helps!

I like Swamp Rat, but they're a little too big. The smallest being 4 1/2" besides that new collaboration. BRKT, eh, a little too typical. I am still leaning towards the Dozier knives.

F1 is good (with a sheath from Normark). Also check out Bark River knives. Their elegant little Woodland in A-2 steel has become my EDC fixed blade.

Check out the Benchmade Resistor (Fixed blade version) I think it will look even better with a sheath from Survival Sheath System. Or maybe the Benchmade Outbounder with a custom kydex sheath. the blades of the Nimravus (both long and short) are a bit too thin to me.

Take a look at the Fred Perrin custom la griffes. I just got my second and I love them. Great little blade.

You may wish to check out www.grecoknives.com to see what he has left of his inventory. He is selling it at a 50% discount as he is going out of business and he had 2 or 3 beautiful little fixed blades for $35.00 + shipping.

I second the Greco suggestion. Great knives and tough as hell. Too bad he's calling it quits. He'll be missed.
