I am looking for a flipper knife with stag handles. Want a quality knife. I have CRKT M4. Elk Ridge, American Hunter I consisted low end. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

i ran a search, its not normally a combination of materials that make up a flipper knife, best bet is to find some stag scales and someone with the know how to custom build it for you, but i reckon it won't be a free lunch

I would look for a framelock flipper with a liner on the other side. Have a custom scale made for it.

I was thinking, no one makes a flipper with stag scales. Anyone who come up with an affordable one could probably sell a bunch of them.

Wait we're doing affordable too? Well that's gonna be a problem. You'll find affordable flipper knives or affordable stag handled knives but as you combine them; well it gets shocking.

Any one familiar with this knife?
These are RJ Martin custom knives. I believe the entry level is $3000 and up with a multi-year wait list. If that’s not in your budget, best to find someone who can make stag scales for a flipper knife in your price range. Have we defined your price range yet?

Finch offers a 1929 model in a jigged bone handle, but not stag. That’s the closest I can think of.

Yikes! I didn’t think they were that rare. Why aren’t there any good production stag flippers made?

I would venture a guess that A) stag, as a natural animal resource would be difficult to harvest at production levels, and B) is inconsistent in size, shape, and show face appearance, which would be impossible to put into automated processes and have consistent results to sustain production levels in a cost-effective manner. Unlike synthetics such as G10, micarta, and dymondwood and metals such as aluminum, steel, and titanium which can all be consistently machined within predictable spec.

Yeah, what Centermass Centermass said. Stag is a material where every piece is unique. It doesn’t fit well into a production knife scenario. It’s not impossible. LionSteel has done runs of stag in their modern slipjoints, it’s just not prevalent in production knives.

I would also guess this is far easier to do with the smaller pieces used for traditional knife scales (or whatever the proper term is, I know they call them something else) and decorative inlays, than it would be for larger folder scales.
