Recommendation? Need for speed

Ken, I just looked at the manual to double check. The max. speed range can be adjusted from 70% to 110%, not 120% as I initially wrote. With the 2x jumper, you can run from 140% to 220%, but there is a gap in the over speed that you cannot set from 110%-130%.

I have only set up one KBAC and I thought it was very well built. It is very simple to set up and configure. I also talked to their customer service about running a 2 HP motor on 110V and they were very helpful and knowledgeable.

What did they tell you about running a 2hp motor on 110v? I remember in industry once we needed a 125% service factor motor, and all the vendor had was 115% service factor. So, he took the next size hp and derated it to HP we needed and says it's not 125%.

To my way of thinking it seems like put the 2hp motor on and rate it for 1-1/2hp and the VFD would be just fine. The only issue would be if a really heavy load was put on motor to pull full 2hp the drive would shut down around the 1-1/2hp range. I doubt seriously I've ever pulled more than 1-1/2hp from my 2hp motor except for a couple of times when I really leaned on grinder just to see how much load I could put.

I'd be interested in hearing what customer service says about running a 2hp motor on 120vac.

Ken, they said it will produce 1-1/2hp and there is no danger of damaging the motor or the drive.
That's exactly as I thought it would be. So, for folks who only have 120vac available and are buying the KBAC drive to run a 1-1/2 hp motor, it's still best to buy a 2hp motor, just in case 220 comes available in future, or for increased resale value?
