Need good survival/camping knive suggestions

i have a fallkniven f1 and some other outdoor knives. i also own a few moras and i really like the mora 2000. its not as tough as the f1 but its not a cheappy by any means. you might want to look into that. its really a great knife.

edit: as far as kydex you can get those custom made for around 15-30 dollars depending on what you want. that about 55 bucks all together. then you have 45 more to spend on hunting and fishing equipment

I think im gonna get the rc-4 now, but I have 1 question. How does the handle fit in your hand? Im kinda big for my age (170 lbs) and have big bones and big hands. will the handle be big enough? btw- If anyone has an RC-4 they want to get rid of, let me know. I wouldnt mind buying a lightly used 1 for 70-85 bucks. Also does any1 know how to make the knot u use for storing paracord on a cord wrapped handle?

As to the handle size you may find it initially seeming a bit small if you have large hands. Once you get used to it, the general consensus is that it's not too small--it's just right. Don't worry about the handle length. :)

Ok guys, I found a great price on this knife on a certain website which I cannot say. The reason i wont say is if i did, but the time i ordered mine (thursday) they would be gone. The price I found was $87!!! after I order mine, the site will be posted on this topic. If that price wasnt juicy enough, how about a fallkniven f1 for $85!!!! Ive seen $87 befor for the rat on yourcornerstore, but they were gone ): ps: on the other page som1 said to try a buck 119 special. I have that already as my hunting knife. The rat will make a good skinning knife too right?

Since you did mention backpacking, you might also consider the weight of the knife. RC-4 is only 7.4 oz compared to a full pound of steel on the RC-5. I think the 5 would be overkill for most of your average fishing, hunting, backpacking needs. You will also have more control with the 4, and a thinner (but thick enough) blade. I would go for the 4, considering your uses.
(fixed my typo-should make sense now)

I think you mean the Ontario/RAT RAT7. Just to clarify there is a difference. At the present time there is no "RC-7". We can dream tho!
