Need heat bluing help guys!

Robert,when i was bluing guns years ago,i got all my stuff from brownell,s in montezuma iowa.they sell a product just for cleaning guns prior to bluing.i forget the name, but hit their website and you can find it .anytime i got a splotch, it was from not being clean.i have used that detergent for automatic dishwashers to, with good results.be well, tom

There is anouther option, though it takes a little time and trouble. Rust blueing. Basicly works like browning the steel, but dip the part in boiling water and turns the brown black as sin. Also very durable and when done rite is stunning.
